"Only a "GOOD" follow up to Reilly and Farrell's last movie together. Worth a matinee ticket."
I'm not going to make this a long review. I don't think I have to. This is not a movie anyone can rave about or crap on. Its just a movie for some laughs.
Reilly and Farrell's first movie together was Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby... and THAT was a good funny movie. The chemistry between the two actors was phenomenal. So it was natural that these two guys would come together again.... but unfortunately, the product isn't as good as their first.
Don't get me wrong. There were so many scenes that were funny, but after awhile, the two got a little too annoying for me. There is a scene *SPOILER ALERT* where their parents announce they're getting divorced and the two start blaming themselves for the demise of the relationship. Which was okay, until they started pouting and crying like 10 year olds.
Never, for story line purposes, were we told these guys were mentally challenged. I believed these guys were simply two adults with lazy and childish tendencies until.... THAT scene. All I could do was roll my eyes. The movie continues and we realize they're NOT mentally challenged, just dumb acting grown ups. So I thought that scene I mentioned before was just not done right.
The situation of two 40 year olds still living with their parents and having to deal with each other lent itself to some funny scenes... but it also produced some very unfunny ones.
I can't say I hated this movie... cause I didn't. But... I can't say I loved it either. I left the theater thinking "How am I gonna rate this movie?"... because I left with mixed feelings. So I just decided to give an average rate. 3 1/2 stars.
There were, like I said before, some unfunny moments, but when Farrell and Reilly were on... THEY WERE ON! I couldn't stop laughing. So I would have to give the acting a good 4 stars. The story, as mentioned before, sets itself up for some real good comedical situations.. so 4 stars to that. The directing was avg but the visuals were... I don't know... just below. Although a scene with a drum set and Farrell's nut sack was pretty funny and a little gross.
If you're up for a good laugh, I guess this will do the job. But don't waste too much money... go during a matinee.
OH.... and don't leave when the credits begin to roll. About one minute into the credits, there's an extra scene (a cookie) for the audience. Not extremely funny, but worth waiting the extra minute.
If you go see it, I hope you enjoy it a little more than I did... because that would mean you had a GREAT time.

Ever heard of Laurel and Hardy, Abbott and Costello, The Little Rascals, The Marx Brothers, Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin, Amos and Andy, the East Side Kids, Wheeler and Woolsey, Bob Hope and Bing Crosby, and of course The Three Stooges.
No, no, no... the best comedic teams came way BEFORE my day and age. The only team of the 80's I can come up with that MAY come close to these teams is Cheech and Chong.
What teams were YOU thinking of?
