"The place I was raised, they didn't give us names. They gave us numbers. Mine was 47."
I have read all the bad reviews for this movie, and I think a majority of the haters were the hardcore fans of the game. I have not played the game. So maybe this is a horrible adaptation of the game, but since I have not played it, I wouldn't know if the movie is accurate to the game or not. However, personally, I don't care if a movie is like a game or a book. I just want whatever it is to be entertaining, with good acting, and story. Maybe this isn't the best of plots, or most complicated thing to come up with. But it works with the direction it took.
Agent 47 is being tracked by HIS secret organization, and the whole movie is pretty much him being set up, and running from them. So maybe that is simple to explain, however there are some confusing parts to the movie, and if you don't pay attention completely, you will be lost in some scenes. But even if you are totally unaware of what is going on story wise, there are still plenty of amazing action scenes to keep you entertained.
The acting.. honestly, nothing special. Although you have to add to the fact that there are no roles in this movie that are hard to play if you are an experienced actor. I will say that although I don't know EXACTLY how the video game Agent 47 was, I think that Timothy Olyphant (Live Free or Die Hard) is an awesome hitman. Then you got Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace), who not only is hot and sexy, but a great actress as well. This is her first role in an American film, and she does great at being frightened and thrown around throughout some of the film. Maybe Olyphant and Kurylenko don't have AMAZING chemistry, but they have good chemistry.
The director is Xavier Gens, who to my knowledge hasn't directed anything else. But he does great in this. I like how he did the film, with well choreographed action, and great direction. I think he is perfect for the job of directing. I also like how the action is somewhat believable, yet awesome at the same time.
The visuals are amazing. As I mentioned the action is cool. The cool camera shots, but most of all... Olga Kurylenko. That red dress was MADE for her! She is stunning. Sadly she only has 2 movies so far in her American career :(
Overall, one of the best video game adaptations yet. It's a tie between this, and Resident Evil. I honestly do not understand the bad reviews, and it is a great movie! Like I said, I am not sure how good of an adaptation it is, so maybe the gamers will hate this movie... but I sure didn't! I wish all video game adaptations were like this. This and Resident Evil are the only good ones I can think of off the top of my head.

and I know how you hate zombies, Vamp. lol
I am glad to hear you added it, and I know you'll like it. I had forgotten about Resident Evil, and even if theyare both TOTALLY different films, I think I like them equally.
