"Killtacular"
This movie is MUCH better than the first AVP, which isn't saying much, but let me digress.
Aside from the one cheesy scene in the opening of the movie, this film took on a very real feel when it comes to the persona of the AVP series. The brothers 'genious' brought to the table exactly what we all thought the first was lacking.. some killing for god sakes.
The directing was well done and the acting was subpar as far as the humans go. The killing and fighting scenes were graphic and brought a lot of blood and new predator gadgets into play.
*Spoiler Alert*
The fact that they sent one predator to 'clean up' the mess, was ingenious. Also what I appreciated in AVPR was the common disregard that the predator had for humans this time around. In the first, he showed sympathy for a few humans, in this film he opens up the worst he can on the humans(including skinning one, how classic).
For the lite stomached people out there, their are a few scenes where the aliens impregnate some women and then they proceed to show their stomaches exploding. As I said before, graphic.
An aspect I really didnt care for, to which I think they relied on too much, was the predators different infra red viewing features. I would go as far as to say that a third of the movie is in that mode and for most of it you have no idea what your looking at nor what in the hell is going on. That goes for some of the predator vs. predalien battles as well.
The ending was also left pretty open for a third installment as the brothers had said, but i'm not too sure I would like a third. A lot of background information would be needed to make it a good movie on a different world. We will have to see.
All in all this movie was very well done and truly stepped up the level of the AVP series. A must see for the Alien and or Predator fan out there.

although i agree with the fact that aliens resembled pussies more than the real aliens first depicted in space.. you can't disagree with the fact that even in the first alien movie, they 'turtled', they would retreat and regroup to attack again.. I believe its the predators who have the super strength and the common disregard for their own lives seeing as they committ suicide at the end of every film, its what they do..
a third movie in space would suck, you should know that by now if you are a true alien fan, its overplayed and way too dry.. it must be takin to another planet, not on a space shuttle.. which is what space means.. guess time will tell
Second...it isnt a must see for an Alien fan or for those fans who love a great toe-to-toe scrap. This movie was GREAT for Predator fans, but totally compromised the firce and brutal image of the Alien. Some of the Aliens actually TURTLED! Give me a break. What made the Aliens terrifying was that they were like 300 pound ants- impervious to pain, freakishly strong and fearless to the point of suicidal. The ALiens in this move were more like ladybugs!
Third...a movie in the future doesn't need a large introduction or explnation. In fact what's has been compromising the AVP stories is the writers trying to explain everything with logic and background story and timelines. It isn't needed. The less we know the more our imaginations can create our own hypotheses. In fact...it is easier to have the story in space and in the future then trying to explain how the Aliens and Predators have been on Earth for centuries and have never been noticed before in fossils or recrded human histroy.
A third movie, set in space in the future, is much simpler premise. Human spacecraft sets out to colonize a new world (or to set up a mining colony...or best yet...a military resweearch facility) and the humans dig up a thriving Alien hive! Predators drop in for some fun too. That's it. And THIS time.... the Aliens are the REAL aliens!
Finally forth....nothing ingenious about sending a single Predator to fight an Alien hive alone. If the REAL alien was in this movie...the Predator would have been jumped by 10 aliens in the sewers and bitch-slapped. Maybe he would have taken out 3....but no way he escapes that situation. This idea of a single Predator stalking 100+ Aliens (and then fighting to a draw with the PredAlien) makes the Predator lookgreat... but makes the Aliens look like pussies. What makes a fight great is balance and equality.
But you are right about it being better then number one. But of course... anything would be ;)
