"Funny, gory and stupid!..... perfect guy movie!"
"The Cottage" is nothing new, everthing in it has been done before. (and done alot better)
but that doesn't mean you avoid a movie just because the idea has been tried and tested. (unless we're talking the crap spoof's their doing at the moment, check out my Superhero movie review)
Two bungling brothers (Reece Shearsmith and Andy Serkis) kidnap the step-daughter (Jennifer Ellison...SWING!!) of a local mob boss to hopefully score a few quid. they take her to a remote cottage in the country bfore dishing out their ransom demands.
*SPOILER ALERT*
but what they don't plan on is the deranged killer on the loose. hacking up people left, right and centre before going back home to perv over his wedding photo's (don't ask, you have to see it)
The Cottage is one of those movies with a twist, like any M H Shaymalan movie or From Dusk till Dawn. a movie you think is going one way, then a left turn to "this can't be happening" street!
now, this isn't a gonna win awards cause the story is abit shit. may as well be honest. but when you see Jennifer Ellison in full pshyco mode and throwing up more swear words than an entire South Park season in her very own cockney accent you'll be bent over laughing so hard you won't care about the mistakes. there doesn't seem to be anything more amusing than a hot chick with a very dirty mouth!
we have all the stop start chases and the crazy locals from the town giving out warnings. we have the mob bosses hitmen getting in on the act also, but they don't last long. and we have the geeky kidnappers standing up to the challenge and becoming some what heroes.
overall the movie is dumb, with some decent death scenes and alot of laughs. if your bored and sick of seeing all the over the top action/sci-fi movies then you could do alot worse than watching "The Cottage".
