GAMER (2009)

"Everything a male audience could ask for."

I knew this movie would rock. Just from the trialer, I was amazed. And now that I've seen the movie, I'm even more amazed. I first saw that they were changing the title a lot. But out of all of them, I'm glad they decided on Gamer. That's a awesome title for this movie. But the main reason I wanted to see this, even before the trailers, was that it's from Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, who did those awesome Crank movies... Ok, now I'm going to get off-track a little bit. You might be thinking "Awesome Crank movies? This guy is a retard for liking those!" ... Yes, those Crank flicks are not for everyone, because they're "unrealistic". But I'm not going to go into why you're wrong. I'm going to say Gamer is obviously made by the same guys, by the trippy camera work, and the fact it's non-stop intense. But honestly, it's also different. Sure, there's those "dumb and stupid" things that can't happen, but it's just a movie. Also, the story is more realistic. I doubt it'll ever happen, but it's more realistic than a guy running around with an artificial heart for an hour and a half, and doing things that would kill him. This also has less humor. So if you thought the humor in Crank was offensive, or stupid, you don't have to worry about it here. Also, a little better acting than Crank. However, still random sex, and boob shots. :)

The story is obvious from the trailer. It's like Death Race all over again, but without cars, and this time people play as the prisoners, in a game of shooting. But I won't ruin the twist that's exactly like Death Race's twist... Hope that's not considered a spoiler. But even thought it's been done before, I don't really mind. I love action movies, and super-unoriginality doesn't bother me as much as other people that like, go ape-shit if a movie's story has been done bofore. I like how this movie brought in it's own little things that set it apart from Death Race, and other action flicks.

The acting is flawless. Gerard Butler is becoming an actor that I now like, instead of just the 300 guy, who is in some other stuff. I now think he is a great actor, and that's pretty much thanks to this movie. It's hard when you're trying to concentrate on all the stuff around you, and still carry a convorsation. Then Michael C. Hall is awesome. DEXTER! Yay! Dexter is my all-time favorite TV series, because it's about the only TV series I do actually care about. It is great seeing hism in more stuff, including movies. I'm sure he'll become a big actor some day, because both roles he's had to play are not easy ones. I just hope that he doesn't got so involver with movies, he stopps doing Dexter. That'd suck.

Already mentioned the directors are Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. But let me elaborate on why they're so awesome. Not only do they make the action scenes of their movies so wildly INTENSE, but also, when there's no action, your hear can't recover from the last wicked action scene. They're just that good. But the one thing I didn't like, was the weird sex stuff. It was weird, and really made no sense, even in today's sexual content. It might even embarass some, depending on who they bring to the movies with them. That's my only complaint. I think the movie would have been just as good, had subtracting just a little bit of that. I liked the random boobs, but the rest was... Weird.

So, people. Even if you hate Crank, (Vamp, I'm talking to you in this sentence) there is a chance you still might like this movie. I can't say you'll like it, but even if you don't, you'll like it better, or hate it less than Crank.

No spell check.

Yeah good rview i never cared for it and i love neveldine/taylor films. I just felt that they didn't give you enough insight into the characters to really give a shit about them it also suffers from the same thing Transformers 2 did too much action when it's always happening it gets boring Gamer never set up it's action sequences it was justy action after action and to me action without setup is boring. I fucking LOVED Michael C Hall in this though

Well, actually I thought this story was more believeable than Crank, but Transporter, at least has a semi-believable plot, even if the action isn't. Statham seems to do this unrealistoc stuff, which a lot of people seem to hate, but I love. But yea, the action scenes in this can't happen. lol, but they're cool! And, thanks.

Nice review. Film was action packed too... a little lame at the end... but overall, its all adrenalin. And a whole lot more realistic than the Crank and Transporter series. Well... maybe not the premise, but the action is. haha
