"Blair Witch all over again."
Alright, when a film comes out that receives as much hype as Cloverfield did, one can't help being excited for the release. While this film certainly wasn't good, it wasn't bad either. The first thing that struck me was the cinematography; there was none. As the title of this review implies, it is indeed the Blair Witch Project all over again. The dizzying flourish of the "real" camera style looks like you're looking through the eyes of a horribly inebriated mosquito headed strait for a wall. That said, the concept was defiantly there, combining the action of a Terminator film with the mystery and suspense of Aliens. I think that the aspect that most held me back was the lack of information about the monster and the absence of any real resolution in the films ending. Cloverfield defiantly puts the dump back in filly-dump. Overall, this wasn't a bad movie, but the attempt to mimic Blair Witch REALLY kept this one back from being absolutely great. C or Three Stars.
