"I think you might want to hire an armoured bear."
Having read the phillip pullman trilogy several years ago, i was not to expectant as to the content for the film. pleasently suprised i must say. only the start of the story was abridged to any great degree. loads of action & didn't take to long to drag the story from the grey cells that lay still & dusty at the back of my mind. loved the bear & twice so due to the use of Ian mcKellans voice. looks to be a good start to a great trilogy. considering the yard stick now due to the rings trilogy, should hold it's own if they continue with the quality of the sequals. purists will continue to wail & moan about the sanctity of the writers work, but for god's sake, it's a childrens book aimed at developing imaginations. film critics take note, get a life, or at least share the imagination & develop your own mind. myself, i like it, a lot.
