"THE DAY THE PLOT STOOD STILL"

I had high hopes that this film could at least be a bit decent. Kind of like War of the Worlds was. That was not the case sadly.

Now, I absolutely love sci fi films, but this one is horrible. I liked the first 10 minutes of the film. The way they start recruiting people and they have no idea whats going on. But then it just goes flat. The "plot" is nowhere in this film.

Keanu Reeves is a great actor, but he couldnt manage to carry the film. Although his character is interesting, there isnt much he had to work with which you can balme the writers for. Jaden Smith is pretty good here you can definately see his talent coming through even in this disappointing mess. I adore Jennifer Connelly shes great, but again the story just didnt go anywhere with her character. It actuall focused more on her relationship with Jaden, and that took away from the film. I still love you Jenny ;)

The directing by Scott Derrickson was decent, but I felt like he didnt make an extra effort to make this movie one those great pop culture end of the world films of all time like; Independence Day, Armageddon, Day After Tomorrow... even though yes they all have their flaws.

Visuals were VERY disappointing! The robot with the laser eyes was like watching Gumbi (you know that lil green playdough guy) .. very sad yes.

This isnt a horrible film, but it is very disappointing all across the board. Especially with the characters.. its like you dont really care what happens to them.

Maybe in 50 plus years we'll get a better version of it...or not :/
