"Sad start to a new franchise"
Brian Singer ruins everything he touches. The man is filled with awe and special effects. He hasn't done a good movie since "Usual Suspects".
He made his first mistake starting the franchise as a continuation of the previous films, which most of the younger crowd has never seen the old Superman films, just becuase he had some child moment in a theater with his mom and basically just wanted to recreate that film. The film should have reintroduced Superman to a new age with a totally new Superman and not, "I am going to try and get a Christopher Reeves look alike because he was the only Superman." As a big Superman fan, Superman is more than just an actor who portrayed him more than 30 years ago, no matter how sad what happened to Chris was. Superman is a legacy, an icon, a character that goes farther than one person and it was time for a new look for a new age.
Second, why a kid? I dont think I even need to say any more. This new film left audiences in confusion, especially those that never saw a Superman movie before.
It is sad really. Warner Bros. had a big opportunity to take the most famous superhero of all time and turn it into a real money maker also, but because of Brian Singer's sad atempt to do...something...who knows when we will see another Superman movie. Most likely a few years after Justice League.
