"Mother is God in the eyes of a child."

This movie is probably one of the creepiest I have seen in a long time. I never played this game, I was always a Resident Evil/Zelda gamer, but when I saw the previews for this I immediately wanted to see it. I regret that I was never able to go see it in theaters because that would have heightened my opinion of this movie.

The director of this movie, Cristophe Gans, has not given us that many movies as of yet, but I'd say this is one of his better movies, actually this is the only movie of his I have seen, but it'd have to be one of his good ones.

Radha Mitchell stars in the lead of this movie as Rose Da Silva, a mother whose adopted daughter, Sharon, goes missing after they crash on a trip to Silent Hill, West Virginia, a place where Rose hopes to qualms her adopted daughter's nightmares, and hopefully restore some of her memories. Radha does very good at playing a frightened woman in a ghost town, where demons roam by dark, and she does a very convincing job with it also.

Sean Bean plays Christopher Da Silva, Rose's husband, who tries to stop his wife from going to Silent Hill, West Virginia after he reads articles and finds out what actually happened there. When his wife stops answering his calls he immediately heads there and meets a cop who tries to help him find her. However, when they search Silent Hill they do not find her anywhere. Sean Bean is very convincing when he starts to lose it after his wife disappears. He has the whole defeated husband, who just wants his wife back, role down.

Laurie Holden, who plays Cybill Bennet, a police woman who is thrust into the Ghost City of Silent Hill with Rose Da Silva when trying to persue her for heading up to Silent Hill with the child. It brought back painful memories from Cybill Bennet's memory. Laurie Holden who is a great actress from such films as Fantastic Four, or the newer movie, The Mist, does wonderful in this movie. She is great at being terrified, and great at being authoritive. I believe she was one of the best choices for this film.

The storyline of this movie is a little hard to follow sometimes, but it's still astonishing and fast-paced. I like the whole darkness bringing about the Demons, plotline, it's very suspensful, probably one of the most suspensful movies I have seen as of yet.

The visuals in this movie were truly frightening. All the demons and monsters that crawl out of the crevices at night to haunt. I think one of the freakiest demons in this is the janitor demon that Rose meets up with in the bathroom as she searches the school for clues to Sharon's whereabouts. But the freakiest demon of them all is the big one with the triangular metal head, the CGI used to make that was truly great, seeing as how it looks so realistic!!!!!

All in all this was an excellent horror movie to add to your collection if you have not already, and even if you aren't that into scary movies, I urge you to go look into this one. It's a visual thrill-ride that is worth the rental fee!!!!!

Excellent review, and on another note the triangular metal head demon is actually invincible in the games.

Glad you liked the film. The Janitor demon really was incredibly freaky. Would give it 4 out of 5. The ending was a bit OTT but incredibly surreal and creepy atmosphere.

I'll check this one out sometime as well. I also heard about it 2yrs ago or so but again, skipped it, but that time was cuz I hadn't played the game, and most film adaptations of video games are bad, but I heard great things about this film. The review itself even sounds creepy!
