The Beach. When it came out, it was critically panned and a lot of people hated it. I wasn't one of them.
This film centres on the journey of a young man trying to find paradise. An island with a beautiful beach without tourists.
I have great memories when it comes to this film. The last time I saw it, I was in Portugal and it was 3 in the morning. It was hot and I was sharing a room with my nephew. I was changing channels when I came across this movie. My nephew was already asleep when it started.
I really enjoyed this movie, but I'm not planning on seeing it again. Sometimes I have the urge to go out and buy it, but I always do my best to resist. I really like this film, and I'm afraid that watching it again will spoil the movie for me. Maybe I like it so much because it makes me think about that time of my life. Maybe I like it because it's actually an underrated cult classic. I think it's a combination of both.
I advise you to see this film. To me, it's an underrated masterpiece. To others, it's one of the dullest movies of all time. I haven't actually read the book this film is based on, but I think it's probably better than the movie, as adaptations (almost) always are.
This "review" isn't actually a "review", nor is it helpful in any way. This is my opinion on the movie. A great movie.
