"This is a dazzling Summer spectacle..Visually epic and thrillingly beautiful."
STORY:
The Children Return to Narnia one year later( 1300 in Narnia) to find a shift in power. Prince Caspian needs help finding a personality..I mean returning to power to end the Tyranny that the current king is using. Now, this is not the cutesy candy-ass family adventure that the first one was, and personally I love it. This is threatening, dangerous, and rightfully exciting in nearly every aspect. Who cares if the magic is gone. This Narnia relies more on edging and menace to push forward and the result is something more entertaining then the first Narnia could not achieve.
ACTING:
This might be the only problem with the film. Our supposed to be hero is bland and very uninteresting. He delivers those lines of his like a young Orlando Bloom, which bothers me very much. He should have anchored the film alot more for being the lead, the moral weight and sense of purpose was very lacking. The scene stealer will still always be Leeson as the Lion Azlon. His voice makes for a powerful presence that is moving and powerful but always carefully measured. I'm glad the casting director was working overtime.
DIRECTING:
Adamson was born to direct this series. He always charges every scene with a sense of purpose. Humor, tradgedy, Scope, danger or just plain fun and goofiness. He also directs action like he's been doing it for years. Some may confuse the atmosphere of this Narnia from the first one as a negative aspect. This is just the right tone for this particular book and Adamson has realized the perfect formula.
VISUALS:
The battles in the film far excede standards that have been set by the prevviews. Make no mistake, this is epic. The creatures and landscapes are, as always flawless. These peoples work make you take perfection for granted. This will be a strong contender for the visual effects Oscar.
Overall, I love this film and all things about it. I hope to god Adamson stays in the Director's seat. Look what happened to Shrek when he left.
