"Live or die...make your choice."

Cary Elves, Danny Clover, Monica Potter, and Tobin Bell star in this suspenseful 'cold-blooded' thriller that started a series that movie-goers fell for. I did. I love the 'Saw' series and I don't care if people don't like them. I own all five of them on DVD and I will see [and buy] 'Saw VI' when it comes out this October and whenever it hits DVD [probably January 2010]. This is [to me] the second best of the 'Saw' series. My favorite is the 5th one, probably because it was the darkest. But, this first installment is very suspenseful and everyone can enjoy it!

THE GOOD OF THE MOVIE:

The movie is very suspenseful and it keeps the watchers interested trough the whole thing. I was very clicked on in this movie trough it.

THE BAD OF THE MOVIE:

The movie is 104 minutes long and most of it is in the famous bathroom setting. I wanted a little more about Jigsaw in this. I know his whole story is explained in the sequels, but I wanted to see a little more of him in this.

ACTING:

The movie has good performances and bad performances. Danny Glover always does a good job but in this he was a little dull and plain. Cary Elves did a good job as Doctor Gordon. He wasn't amazing and no performance in this is Oscar worthy, but he was still good. Monica Potter did alright in this, she isn't a big role person in this but she did a good job. And last but not least, I will say Shawnee Smith did a decent job too. She is only limited in this but I will still count her in the cast because the only two characters you really see in this movie is Adam and Doctor Gordon.

VISUALS:

Good visuals. This movie is a bloody good time!

DIRECTION:

James Wan, the director of "Dead Silence" and "Death Sentence" directed this first 'Saw' installment in 18 days. Now, if he took a little longer to make this, the acting and a lot more would have been better. Now, this movie is still great and one of my favorite horror movies, but imagine If he took his time. We'd have an AMAZING film other than a good film!

OVERALL:

Overall, I say see this. I love the 'Saw' series and this is the second best in my own opinon. This movie is fun to watch and it's a bloody scare!

OVERALL GRADE: A-

I've got the director's cut dvd. Virtually no difference than this version, except instead of the song "Bite The Hand That Bleeds You" at the end, it's just a continuation of the theme music.
