WATCHMEN (2009)

"An extraordinary experience that captures every picture in its novel and plunges it into this perfect masterpiece. Another way of saying it - once again - Zack makes a gift for another great graphic novel."

My heart is beating. i step into the theater and my heart is still beating. I can't afford to mess this movie with the stressfull, yet joyfull, momment I am having. but as my excitment continues on showing the previews go fast and I am sitting down looking at the big yello screen blazoning the great warner brothers sign and telling me that the movie i waited for from 2 years and have read its exciting novel is just on the starting point. my excitment is amazingly showing and my heart, oh my heart, is still beating.

2 years ago, I was introduced to a movie with a poster that had a stupid man with another person hitting him. I still remember my first impression:"EWW." but then the posters kept on showing the real mystery under the movie and the trailers made me crack up waiting for this piece of art to come out. arround 5 months ago i ordered a copy of the book and I didn't get it till like 1 month -or so- later because of it's unavailbility. I started sinking my teeth into this book. reading.

CHAPTER ONE: Rorsach gets to the appartment of edward blake and so the mystery of killing masked heroes start. and so the charachters show a good attitude and the fact that i am not wrong when I picked a 20 dollar book to buy and keep. rorsach goes to nite owl II to warn him and so he does go to all the other watchmen (since that was the name of the masked heroes back then) to warn them and give them the waring that someone is planning a murder to all costumed heros.

CHAPTER TWO: get to know the great comedian after had died and throughout what others think of him and how will they remember him. sure he killed a woman with a baby in her uterus. sure he tried to rape a woman. sure he killed many more people in strikes and wars. but he knew the actual fact that society is the main joke and he represented it with making the world we live in a little too much of a comedy more than the drama. he knew that masked superheroes are nothing close to working. But oh well, everything he did was in the past.

CHAPTER THREE: you're officially introduced to dr. manhattan and his second girlfriend, also known as SLIK SPERKET II.both of them are maked heros and dr manhattan seems to be the only one to have any power between all the watchmen after he got struck in an experiment-gone-wronge typr of situations. his girl leaves him afte they get into a fight and so comes again and much more introduced, NITE OWL II. NITE OWL II is the person who had worked as a superhero and wanted to settle down so he quit the whole superhero thingy.

CHAPTER FOUR: BACK to dr. Manhattan, he made a first ever interview with a broadcasting company which introduced him to all the people outside his life and showed him to many many others who had never beleived that he exists. after one of the reporters accuses him of giving cancer to many people DR. manhattan goes to mars after he transports himslef.

I really wanted to continue my whole reliving every chapter thing but that's all I rememberd in that momment where the wb SIGN WAS ON THE SCREEN. A GOOD REVIEW AND THE START OF THE COMIC BOOK. and so does the movie starts by portraying every scene out of the book in a great way. so I wont have to add to wat i remember except some of the stuff I think are pretty important, like the fact that they had to stop there vigalante life as superheros and keep everything to the government. also I still have to tell you that this would be called the second genenration of the minutmen (or watchmen obviously). and watchmen seems to have it's explosions in a fake 1985 were these masked people are ready to give out there life to save humanity, which according to the scientists, is only six minutes to midnight, and where everyone is in crazy momments and are really stressed because the end is really nigh because of the consideration of a nuclear war between the US and the Soviet Union.

I had all that in my mind and of course, the ending which i didn't want to blazon for anyone as a spoiler. the movie starts with the main starting fight in the book, the fight between the comedian and the unknown killer. great fight. unforgettable and unmissable. I loved how they mixed the classic and classy at the same time music with the fight that usually is atacked by monstrous songs and big music effects for the background. since that second I easily had fell in love with the movie as a movie and as a representative to the graphic novel which was technically only better because it had some more scenes and I actually had much much more time than only 3 hrs to understand the whole thing and enjoy it at the same time. so for anyone who actually wants to have a memory of who and what watchmen really is about, then I recommend watching it again cause that would bring you into a much more high level of understanding the story and what's going through with the novel and why is it considered as a great novel among many more who wanted its place in time's first hundred novels of the twentieth century.

and so the movie starts following every single shot I wanted from the book and making the unmakable masterpiece clap its hands to who made it perfectly seem as noir and as good as the book was. not much of the scenes that I wanna start talking about because I know that if I wanna start with one scene I will never stop speaking about this movie because It makes sense that every scene was too perfect to miss talking about and my review would become another book in your hands to read about the movie representing the novel. SO i'll stop before ill stop before I start and hit my off button before hitting play. LOLz.

And so the story continues with actors that are giving there best to make sure they keep this movie loyal to the novel. and the characters are an important part of the story because each one of them is supposed to make the story go his way or her (in the case if SS). anyways, a too much perfect acting was preformed by all the actors. I think the hardest masked heros to portray were rorsach and the comedian. but both actors did a great just preforming their parts in the story and showing how loyal they are to the actual novels characters more than just showing off that they are what they are and going off the character. a perfect portrayal of the novel had to come with a great representation of watchmen itself and the guys did a fine job in making the unmakable masterpiece pleased by its representation.

And what can I still say even more about the great directing done by the great VISIONARY DIRECTOR (no more fighting and saying "oh he's not visionary") Zack Snyder. of course I really can't say a thing because I really don't think any directing could top the great one through this. the time and place were preformed in a major great way. everything was just too perfect and everything was in order just like the novel and totally making it so real that I don't think anyone could go beyond it. the great use of music right in the exact time was too perfect to be true. I kept having that smile that gave anyone in the theater that was looking at me a great, true, theory of what my impressions would be of this master movie. zack did a great job and an exclamation mark to anyone who didn't get it.

Another thing I want to talk about beriefly is the visuals: easily and totally agreeable with everyone, zack snyder brings the visuals to a whole new level of thinking. too many great visuals I don't want to talk about to not spoil them but a great way of making you feel good is the fact that if you really did not have that maturity level to watch watchmen, understand it, take its moral thinkings about society, and enjoy it, then you will be able to enjoy most of the great visuals that gives you a fist that is remarkable in the cinematic history. great visuals and I went to watch it again just for the visuals and a third time for a memorabilia showtime. LOL.

remarkable thing I've heard that made me laugh just thinking that these people are thinking of them. I really herd the blue penis joke:"oh god there is a penis shown in a rated R movie. holy crap it is the end of the world." also I have heard the other joke:" this movie is not for kids" (notice the rated r sign on the poster and in the movie theater, cause I think I did. LOLOLOLOLOL). Also i have heard the other joke that the clothe are too tight:" siriously guys this is stupid why don't they were any good things on them." (answering that: well they really can't where anything really that good on them which would technically show how unloyal it is to the novel and how 21-centurishhh this will be. because you are technically talking about the fashion in the 1930's guys - speically for the minutmen costumes more than the watchmen costumes which were fine and not as weird looking as the other ones." one last joke I have heard about this movie:" it is too long" (well If I realyl wnato t answer that i would have to tell you if it was any shorter or if anything was cut in the movie - anymore than they already had cut - then it wont be a remarkable making of the novel. every sentence said was remamrkably important to the novel and intresting to look at by itself.) many jokes yet one thing is true anyone who says them is really stupid (unless for the last one, if you used it with a little more sense) and really occult and i thought I will, or more likely should answer many of these things said because I am sick of writing comments.

a last thing I still want to say, bare with me LOL, is the fact that this movie is as much respectable in my eyes as his soundtrack and his score was. an amazing piece of music that fits more than perfectly in a movie that shall always be remembered. a great masterpiece which i kept on listining to it even after the movie was over in many days. a perfect way to end this movie and this review is also the great chemical romance record "desolation row". a perfect way for both the movie and this review. a perfect song reflecting alot of what watchmen had meant publicly more than the inside beliefs hidden behind the grips of a masterpiece that shall always be remembered and never forgotten. also the soundtrack had a great pick of 60's and 70's music that made it unforgettable (by Nat King Cole) even when you;re listening to the sound of silence (by Simon & Garfunkel) you'll remember that the times they are a-changing (by bob dylan) in a world full of Pruit Igoe & Prophecies (The Philip Glass Ensemble).

A perfect movie and a perfect soundtrack taken from the perfect book where everything is diffrent. where a whole new life start and ends with a movie that takes you far beyond your stupid and callow imagination and shows how big a movie can be and how big a movie can show even with less than a 100 million dollar in its first weekend and that a movie can break a record without breaking dollars.

Wraping it up, watchmen is an extraordinary experience that captures every picture in its novel and plunges it into this perfect masterpiece. Another way of saying it - once again - Zack makes a gift for another great graphic novel waiting to be awaken under the hands of someone who can handle it.

LOL, thanks fallen.
I like the fact that you had it a 4.7. i wish we can actually pic the number ourselves, like if we can put a 4.7 stars on this site. UGH it would be much better, so much more stuff would be able to happen. because then, you can actually get your opinion to others, like I wanted to put acting on a 4.7 because of one actor that pissed me off a little but I couldn't and I also did not want to lower it to 4.5 because all the other actors did a great great great job. so I was confused and kept it a 5. and now we have a fight because of it. LOL.

Dude, nice review. And no offense Vis, but Malin Ackerman had worse acting than Carla. They were both miscast in my opinion. Thats why the acting in my book is 4 stars, but its still a 4.7 movie. Close enough to 5.
Again FOY, good review.

thanks for the back-up movie buff. but I really don't think I really did stell his review that much. and i could swear on anything that I didn't steel the idea of the chapter thingy. I had that on my mind.

also, I agree with you moviebuff. but I really think that to each his own movie opinion, LOL. I also had tried my best to make some of other people not like some movies that really seem to be stupid. but i really get to them as a nonsense person that doesn't understand what I am understanding and they just sometimes agree with you and the next day, they are going to stay liking the movie for sure, because it is in their blood to like it. you can show them what's wrong in the movie but i really don't think - talking about my experience in life and movies - you can change there opinion about a movie, because it's their life, their choice, their opinion, so I just accept it and continue with my life.
you see I like this movie to the core and I really think it is really good, It technically is in my top of all time, i see this movie as a great one but I will never try to persuade my friend that the movie is really good because he went, he saw it and was bored as hell (he didn't read the novel btw). so I can't change his mind and so you shouldn't try to change mine. not that you'll be unable to express your feelings, but not to tell him that he should change it from a 5 to a 4.5 stars. you could try, but i really don't think that you'll get anywhere with me.

What's wrong with FOY copying your technique Vis? Its actually a form of flattery. He didn't plagiarize your review so where's the harm?

I absolutley agree with you, however, that it is NOT a 5 star movie. And I would try to join you in convincing FOY that... but I've come to the realization that once someone has made up their mind on a rating for a movie, it would take hell freezing over to convince them to change it. So... if FOY thinks its a 5 star movie... oh well. Guess he enjoyed it.

I could deffinitely say that say that these could make up the actual cut of the movie but it is also a very long story and many scenes were already put. people in the theater (all three times when I watched it) were complaining on how long the movie was. they wanted it to have even less than that, so adding scenes wont really do anything good to the movie. I agree that these 2 scenes you talked about could have been in the movie but they really are scenes that could still stay out of the movie also, just like the first scene in the first chapter of the book when rorsach goes to a night club (the first time not the second time) which also was a good ass scene. as far as I saw it, it was a good ass movie that i knew I would enjoy without even reading the novel and i think it would've still made my top 5 of all time even if I didn't read the novel. i really tried to compare both movie and book to show that it had this feeling of perfectness because it shows what the novel is about in a 3 hour movie.
also i agree that I am excited to the director's cut just as much as I was excited before I walked in to watch the movie because it will definitely include the scenes you had mentioned and many many more from the graphic novel. but you can't pass this movie without saying that it had the basics of the novel and had followed most of the important things in the novel in an amazing way of portraying it with great visuals and directing and acting (taking gugino's preformance out, if relating it exactly to what silk specter was supposed to be like in the novel. but taking her role in the movie she did good trying to show a new side of silk not shown in the novel.

There were key scenes that could have made the cut over others, such as how Rorschach got his mask or Hollis Mason's death. Your supposed love for the graphic novel shouldn't take away from your judgement, and when you add in Gugino's performance, it's not a 5 star movie, despite what an accomplishment it is. The Director's Cut will be the 5 star film.

Nice review, anyways. At least you took the time to explain yourself

oh, i can trust you I didn't copy anything out of your review it is all written down by my own hands and it is deffinitely not like your review. btw, if there is something I have noticed is that the reviews for watchmen are all the same so i thought I'd get a little off the line. you can trust me that this is not your review copied, or your technique. I had this idea of the review before I started writing it and it is not because of your review. NOT ONE BIT. it could be just a little common for the fact that we both liked it.
anyways, I think it did diserve a 5 stars and it is easily a 5 stars movie for I did include it in my top of all time and there is nothing that could change that. that is your opinion about the movie and this is mine VIS. I really don't think that because some scenes were out (which I know of) and I know the diffrence between carla gugino and the actual character, but I think that all the stuff taken out or that were wrong were barely anything to everything those scenes gotten right and you know that for sure. the movie represented watchmen in a way no one else could have. always remember that this graphic novel is not called unmakable for nothing(and I think you know that already too VIS.)

This showing up before my review isn't the point, it's the fact you copied my review technique for the movie and you know it.

Carla Gugino was a miscast. She wasn't believable as an older woman, and they left some scenes out that should have been there...so no, not 5 stars, but still excellent.
