"Again not the movie these classic creatures deserve."

Now when we think back to the great sci/fi horror movies what immediately comes to mind?Thats right!Alien and Predator,so a movie in which these two classic beasties tear into each other should be great right?Well after seeing the first pg-13 outing I began to question my faith.After all each series on they're own recieved R ratings so why in the hell when you put them together would they be downgraded so?Its like Robocop 3 for christs sake!So upon hearing that the sequel had recieved the 18-A rating my sci/fi horror blood began to boil!No more off screen deaths!No more boring,secluded underground environments!But wait?!This movie has ALL of those things....and more.First off theres the story,now lets look back at the movies Aliens and Predator.Each boasting an original idea for the time and each being very tense and scary.The story in these AVP movies seem to be sketched on a Denny's napkin with colored crayons.Extremely predictable and never suspenseful or creepy,in fact this movie could more or less just be a remake of the first one if not for the predator-alien hybrid and the new battleground.The acting......the acting people!Again lets look back at Alien and Predator.Great and iconic and memorable characters fill these movies cast!You want everyone to make it out alive and it is dissapointing when a favorite character gets butchered.Now again in the AVP movies.the first movies characters werent HORRIBLE in any regards just none of them were all that special.Now in AVPR the characters are AWFUL!Each actor is completely unconvincing and unlikable and more often than not you cant wait to see them torn apart or bathed in Alien blood.And remember that Denny's napkin with the plot written in blue crayon?Unfold said napkin and you will find this movies script in yellow.The spoken portions of this movie are ridiculous and almost painful to the ears."Oh no...my family are dead,I have better escape." Its deffinitely not too intelligent.Now i don't know anything about these directors but they missed the mark once again.But even after all the shit this movie is crammed with a Predator/Alien fan like myself simply cannot deny that seeing them battle can be fun.The creatures look pretty good and theyre are some cool moments.But really this movie is more a showcase for the Predators new equipment like a whip that can cut through Alien and laser-emitting traps that can also cut through Alien.Basically there is a shit-load of Alien-cutting in this movie,the Predator kicks ass and takes names.On the other hand i found the Alienator (patented by me thank you!) to be rather unsatisfying.It never really does anything cool and is much more like a basic Alien than a Predator.Also I was psyched to hear the battle would take place on earth...and not thousands of feet below it.But suprise suprise,most of the fights take place in far too dark environments that leave much to be desired.......and seen.And the 18-A rating really has added nothing,because again a decent ammount of deaths arent shown and alot of them just really arent that bloody.So after being more or less dissapointed by two AVP movies in a row I ask please,please,please either drop it or put in the effort to make a movie that the fans deserve!Still worth picking up if your a fan of either movie.
