"It's not bad! It ain't great either!"

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, they should have tattoos that say BFF or something because it’s clear to see that their movie collaboration is off to an okay start. BABY MAMA is a comedy that often has cheesy lines and scenes that only tickle those who’ve never seen better comedy movies but… it definitely has enough satire and humor that are funny mainly because the silliness of it all.
Ya know how when you watch a comedy and afterwards you comment by saying, it was all right, nothing great but it was funny at times… well, this is one of those movies.
There are scenes like Tina Fey and Amy Poehler singing karaoke where you’d just wanna close your eyes and hope for them to stop already. Somehow you feel embarrassed FOR them because they’re embarrassing themselves.
But there are jokes that will make you laugh, mainly jokes that deal with the concept of maternity. The paranoia that a prospective parent could have when expecting a child. The whole room is turned into something way safer than the Pentagon.
Not to mention the whole couples training, surrogacy therapy, those sessions are pretty funny.
Guest stars, big names like Steve Martin, Sigourney Weaver and Greg Kinnear are there as supporting roles but sometimes they add to the conscience that this comedy movie surprisingly has.
If I had to choose the funniest characters in this one, it’d have to be Dax Shepherd who plays the redneck boyfriend and Romany Malco who plays the apartment door man.
Romany has one hilarious line that has something to do with DMX.
Overall, I think the movie feels like a two hour sitcom or a two hour SNL show because Tina invited his SNL pals to make cameos as well. It’s NOT Knocked Up, or Juno, but it may be just as good as or slightly better than The Brother Solomon.
Bottomline, the female friendship chemistry between Tina Fey and Amy Poehler works well. By that I mean that despite the movie’s average performance, I hope this won’t be their last collaboration.
