"Planet Terror review only"
|
I was never a fan of the gratuitous movies of the 70's, I was more the epic adventure like the Raiders & Star Wars of the like. So when I saw the trailer to Grindhouse before the premiere of 300, I thought, these guys (quinten & Robert R) have gotten to the point in their career that they can start making movies for fun. This looks very gimmicky & I wasn't too much of a fan of Dusk till dawn (even though I'd chew off my arm for an evening with Salma Hayek- I still didn't like that movie...I only saw it once, never wanted to visit again-I might do, just for the curiosity)
I digress, I jokingly chatted to my mate that it looks great! But secretly vowed not to see it.
I just watched Terror Planet on DVD..........I bloody enjoyed it.
The movie took me instantly on admiration & laughter. The cinematography is just mind blowing. Not because of the "old film " look, but because of it's use to enhance a mood of a scene. I noticed that whenever there was a scary scene coming up, the film scratches would increase- very clever.
I really connected with alot of the pun's they had throughout, & you really didnt have to be a follower of zombie movies to really enjoy this.
I recommend this to anyone old enough to watch this adult rated movie, & I really believe you dont need to be in the mood for a splatter movie to enjoy it. I wasn't, I was just curious, & thoroughly enjoyed the entire movie. I will actually go out & add this to my collection.
...now I need the confidence to watch Death Proof
