"During the movie, I kept staring with a big smile on my face."
OK. I'm going to write a review on The Dark Knight. I'm finally going to do it.
...
Hmmm... How am I going to make my review different from all the others? Hmmm... I don't want to write the 153rd review nobody gives a shit about. How can I make mine different from all the others?
...
I GOT IT! Instead of just talking about how good the movie is, I'll write a negative review!
...
Nope, that's definitely not it. But I'm getting there...
...
EUREKA! Instead of listing all the good things, I'm going to criticise all the bad stuff! Yeah, that's what I'm going to do!

While I'm crossing my fingers in hopes that The Dark Knight might get some serious Oscar recognition, I still have weird feelings about it. I'm sure it's the best comic book movie so far and the best of 2008 overall, but I'm still not fully convinced. I think that's more because of personal reasons than anything about the movie.
Maybe I was just too hyped up. I was eager to see this film as soon as the Batman Begins credits rolled down. Somewhere up in February I was already counting down the days until TDK. When it was released I was on vacation, nowhere near a theatre, so I had to wait upon returning home to see the movie. In the mean while, I was counting down the minutes. I was reading all the wonderful reviews it had gotten. That got me REALLY hyped up. As soon as I was back, I met up with a friend and we went to go see it.
During the movie, I kept staring with a big smile on my face.
But that's all of the goodness I'm going to discuss.
Now let's sum up the bad things.
Batman's voice. I know this sounds cliché, because everyone has already complained about it, but his voice really complicated things. I've never had a lot of problems with my English (which, by the way, I learned by watching TV and reading online), so I never pay a lot of attention to the subtitles, even though it bothers me when I'm watching a movie without them, regardless what language. Because of that, I couldn't understand the 'Then you're going to love me.'-line. I didn't even notice it. Not that I cared about it in the first place... Still...
What I noticed when seeing this film was the fact that Maroni, after being dropped by Batman about 2 storeys high, even after we hear his legs snap, wasn't using crutches or anything. That does not make sense!
That's all the bad stuff I can remember.
What I really, really hate about this movie: How the hell are they going to make a sequel to this? If Ledger were still alive, they could make a 3rd. Now they can't. They really can't. Well, actually, they can, but it won't be realistic enough. I hope I'm wrong.
(Recasting is definitely not an option.)
I would also like to add that, for some reason, I was more pleased with the release of Batman Begins than I am now with TDK. With BB, I wasn't expecting much, so I was (very) pleasantly surprised. It over delivered. Not that TDK under delivered. I was just expecting the greatest motion picture of all time. I'm probably just sad that the long wait is over and that I have to move on...
