Gavin Hood’s first Hollywood feature following his Oscar film Tsotsi. Rendition is basically something the government put together after 9/11, its the transfer of anyone suspected of being a terrorist to prisons outside of the U.S. In this film a bombing goes off in a foren country, one of the United States men is killed.
This film, for me at least, was almost perfect. Its story was excellent, with the twist near the ending, it had a great director behind the project, Gavin Hood, a stunning all-star cast (Reese Witherspoon, Jake Gyllenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard, Alan Arkin, Meryl Streep), and a strong emotional empact. What I didn’t like was the character development, I found it was lacking, none of the characters really got a good last word in before the movie ended.
