Ben Affleck redeems his mediocre acting career with an awesome directorial debut in Gone Baby, Gone. Morally complex, tragic and heartwrenching elements bring to mind the moral dilemma of Eastwood’s Million Dollar Baby, and the real people drama of his Mystic River, as well as the the crime dynamic of Scorsese’s The Departed.
Solid performances that allow the actors to delve a little into just being the characters without overdoing it. While there is a slight stall in the storytelling at one point, Gone Baby, Gone is a great movie. And from the little time I’ve spent in Boston and surrounding area, I really appreciated the realness of the Massachusetts people and places portrayed.
