TWILIGHT (2008)

"Twilight, the new definition of BORING"

Spoilers Ahead! I have not read any of the Twilight series so I went into the film without any preconceived ideas or visualizations of what was to come. What followed was a 90210 cast doing their best "we're undead" look into the camera. Edward is played as flat as a pancake without any range, emotion or interesting attributes (oh, he glitters in the sunlight. big whoop). For over an hour we watch as Bella and Edward look longingly for one another while Edward's eyes make him look like a deer caught in headlights. I kept waiting for something to happen. Anything. Please. Something! Then suddenly there is a 10 min "battle royale" between the two groups of vampires and Bella is saved to long another day for her boring glittery vampire. That's it. Nothing happens. This film is one long boring ride to nowhere.

Liking Harry Potter has nothing to do with me liking Twilight. They are completely different genres and stories. That's like saying I can't like hot dogs because I like hamburgers. I'm intelligent enough to be interested in and enjoy two different genres of stories. I have lots of friends that have read the book and were severely disappointed in this adaptation saying that it was mis-cast, slow, disjointed, and lacked any energy that the book contained.

It would have been more interesting for the love story to between Bella & Edward to develop simultaneously as the hunt for Bella by James. That would have at least kept the pacing and the stakes high.

I rode the train home with 5 girls that were self proclaimed fans of the book and they too felt that it was a lack-luster and disappointing adaptation.

Now that character development is out of the way, hopefully the book 2 film adaptation will be more exciting.

I THINK THE FACT THAT YOU LIKE HARRY POTTER THATS WHY YOU DONT LIKE TWILIGHT!!!!

WHICH I HAVE TO SAY PEOPLE JUST HAVE TO STOP COMPARING BOTH THERE GREAT BOOKS (EVEN THO NEVER READ HARRY POTTER) BUT WAY JUST WAY DIFFRENT STORIES!

OF COURSE YOU DIDNT QUITE GET THE WHOLE WHY ITS NOT AN ACTION MOVIE ITS MORE OF A LOVE STORY AND EDWARD TRAYING TO LOVE HER AND NOT KILL HER!
