2 problems. If you liked Mallrats, don't go if you're a fan of Jason Lee. He is great in it, but has no funny lines.
It ruined the chipmunks too. They sang more pop music than their original songs, but that was part of it. It was about a song writer named Dave who ran into three chipmunks who could sing his songs. If they'd sing his songs, he'd lat them stay. His manager got jealous and spoiled the chipmunks so they'd want to live with him. That was a trap into making money off of them and getting them to sing more hiphop and pop.
