""Elvis, has left the building....... in fits of laughter""
|
Bubba Ho-Tep is one of the best and funniest original movies i have seen in a long, long time. though i seen it back in 2004, i thought it deserved a review and brought to the attention of people who might not have seen it yet.
The movie starts off telling how back in the early 70's Elvis (Bruce Campbell) got fed up of the rock'n'roll lifestyle and switched places with a talented impersonator.
Now well into his later years stuck in an old people's home, he tries telling the nusres, doctor's and just about anybody who will listen that HE is the real Elvis.
With all his hilarious stories no-one believes him, except his coloured friend (Ossie Davis) down the hall who just happens to think he's JFK (and that the government coloured his skin as a cover up)
Strange things start to happen in the home, with old people mysteriously dying through the nights. then one night Elvis discover's a old person being eating alive by an old Egyptian Mummy. (very random)
So with the help of his old buddy (the black JFK) Elvis sets out to kill the mummy and save the day at the old peoples home. there are some truly great moments in this movie like when Elvis tries to escape the mummy on his electrical wheelchair, or being attacked by cockroach the size of a bed-pan!
This movie in general is a brilliant dark comedy and has Bruce Campbell in his best role since the Evil dead series, and Ossie Davis pushing him all the way in the laughter department.
A must see for all B-movie fans!!
