"Really Good Action, But Not The Best In "The Mummy" Series."
To tell the truth, I really enjoy watching "The Mummy" movies. It's an action adventure franchise that's a lot like "Indiana Jones" except with fake action. Anyway, onto the movie.
This time, instead of the sandy deserts of Egypt, the story takes place in China. It's now 1946, and Rick and Evelyn O'Connell (Brendan Fraser and Maria Bello, instead of Rachel Weisz) are now having a retired life in England while their now 21-year-old son Alex (Luke Ford) is working with professor Wilson (David Calder) on a treasure hunting expedition to find and unbury the tomb of the Dragon Emperor (Jet Li) and his army in China. But the mummy gets resurrected, the O'Connell parents are out of retirement, and they're on yet another journey going from the snowy Himalayas to the catacombs of Shangri-La to stop the Emperor from getting immortal power and raising his army back from the dead.
We all get the point of that, I can tell. But what I didn't expect from this movie was: (1)For once, Stephen Sommers is not directing this third sequel, so instead, it's Rob Cohen. I've never seen "XXX" or "Fast & Furious" but he wasn't great enough to direct this movie, so thanks for making me decrease the directing rating to 3.5 stars! (2)Also, Maria Bello? WHAT THE FUCK! She was terrible as Evy O'Connell. She acts like she has an english accent, but she was actually faking it in order to become a good actress, but she wasn't smart enough and she failed. She's actually blonde-headed too, but she just decided to dye her hair black in order to depress the audience. That's stupid! What happened to the beautiful Rachel Weisz? She was well perfect and smart enough for her role as Evy in the other two movies! Why have you disappointed me, Rachel? My first thought for the acting rating was at 2 stars, but since the really hot Michelle Yeoh, even Brendan Fraser and John Hannah returning to their perfect roles, saved the day, I changed it to 3 stars. (3)It was so cheesy and slow in the middle, especially when they were crossing the snowy mountains to the gateway of Shangri-La. I don't want to spoil what happens in there.
The only thing I really liked about this movie were the storyline and the visuals. I mean, the visuals were outstanding! I love the battle scenes too! That's why the visuals deserve 4.5 stars, and the story and overall get 4 stars. Despite having some cheesy parts in it, I think this movie is still worth watching, just as long as you can survive through the middle, that is.
