"Not the action/fantasy dream it was designed to be..."
Push was quite disappointing to say the least. It was another story that had great potential only to fall short by the weak plot holes and poor development. At no point during the film was there a thrilling moment that just stole your breath away. The effects were not dazzling. Much of the story felt contrived and worse, as if the writers fooled themselves at some point. The plot of the government trying to induce super powered beings into being evolved super powered soldiers in a war effort that has failed to show any results was kind of weak. That plot never works.
First, why chase beings that don't want to be found to force them into being what they don't want to be? It is only inevitable that they would rise up against their oppressing faction eventually.
Second, what was it really about? What was meant to be the end all for this story? It never led to anything as it took too long to develop.
Push did present a few colorful concepts. But they were lost to a lack of vision and story telling. Some places moved too fast where others crawled at a snails pace. It never reached a peak because at a point the story was too far out of reach.
This movie had a chance to do the genre justice, but we'll see what happens with the next one.
