STREET KINGS (2008)

"This is definitely filled with action!"

This is definitely filled with action, not to mention blood and violence. It's the story of Detective Tom Ludlow (Keanu Reeves) who takes on the task of street justice for a special vice unit in the LAPD. The unit is overseen by Captain Wander (Forest Whitaker) and includes three other detectives (Jay Mohr, John Corbett, and Amaury Nolasco). These guys are tough. However there is something wrong in the department and Ludlow's former partner, Detective Washington (Terry Crews), is talking to internal affairs about the corruption he has uncovered. IA Captain Biggs (Hugh Laurie) is keeping a close eye on this special unit and has Ludlow in his sights.

When Washington is murdered, Ludlow goes on a mission to find - and kill - his murderers. He was in the liquor store with Washington at the time, and one of his rounds accidentally entered Washington. Along with Homicide Detective Diskant (Chris Evans) the two set out to uncover what actually happened to Washington and set things straight. Diskant informs Ludlow that the evidence linking him to the scene will be taken care of and Ludlow will not be connected to the crime. Ludlow is shaken by the thought that he accidentally shot the other cop, but even more shaken by the idea that evidence is being covered up to protect him.

What the two detectives discover is something bigger than they ever imagined. The action is intense as the bullets fly in this thriller that takes to the streets of Los Angeles.

After a particularly bloody encounter, Ludlow is told he "went toe to toe with evil, and you won." Ludlow has no qualms about killing the bad guys, and he is the one called in to take on the dirty jobs. Yes, there is a lot of violence in this movie. There is also a lot of action and suspense. Keanu Reeves is the perfect cop who finds himself in the middle of a gigantic cover up.

Reeves doesn't age. He looks the same as he did years ago, and keeps getting better. This is a suspenseful film but definitely not for the faint of heart.
