"Simply, thank you Frank Darabont for treating my favorite story with the excellence, passion and energy it deserved. I do not regret watching one minute of the movie!"
This being my all time favorite short story by King made the suspense of seeing the movie exciting yet concerning. I did not want my favorite escape from reality to be ruined by cheesy effects or bad acting. With the wrong director it could have easily gone that way. However, I do not regret watching one minute of the movie!
The creatures and affects were excellent. The acting and character portrayals were honest and compelling. My heart ached for some and I couldn't help but hate others with a heated passion. And I know I am not the only one who felt this way in the theater. (The whole theater actually clapped at one point, but I don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet so I won't say exactly when, but I'm sure for those of you who did see it you know the occurrence I am talking about. There may have been clapping in yours as well.)
The movie was true to this captivating story but the screenplay was written with well thought out additions to make the story run smoothly for a movie adaptation, which can be difficult for a Stephen King written work sometimes. A shocking, yet fitting, ending was added to the screenplay that was absent in the story. I really don't think an ending had to be added but it was a great choice for one.
Simply, thank you Frank Darabont for treating my favorite story with the excellence, passion and energy it deserved! It was excellent!
