First off, I do not like Michael Moore. I thought Bowling for Columbine was excellent, but when Farenheit 9/11 came around I was very dissapointed with his interpretation of the president. Not because I'm a Bush fan (far from it), but because I felt that he was touching upon a subject that was bigger than any documentary could go and that he had an immature approach to making the film. I'll admit it, he can be downright hilarious at times, but there's a time and a place for humor, even in documentaries. ANYWAY, Sicko was a completely relentlous attack on America's health care system. Before seeing this movie, I only had ignorant assumptions on the system that neither justified or condoned our country's approach to health care. But I can honestly say this movie opened my eyes ina big way. Almost immediately after it's release it was attacked by insurance lobbyists speaking on false accusations. But it's difficult to completely shoot this film down for such a thing because Moore made sure to cover every end of the spectrum. He took lots of precautions to make sure it was clear that overall, there's no denying the facts. The figures and testimonials are almost haunting and completely outweigh anysort of miniscual shortcomings or errors. This film may not convince you that our system is corrupt, but it will definately make you ask questions. I first saw this movie about 5 months ago and it has still stuck with me, and for that reason this documentary succeeded. BFC told us what we already knew and surpressed, FH 9/11 was a biased piece of crap, but Sicko is an educational and entertaining film that hits it's mark dead-on. So you can love him or hate him, but Moore definately made an amazing film that everyone should see. Because afterall, it is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.
