This thing doesn't want to show itself, it wants to hide inside an imitation. It'll fight if it has to, but it's vulnerable out in the open. If it takes us over, then it has no more enemies, nobody left to kill it. And then it's won .

The perfect film to watch on a snowy winter night ( almost pop it every winter) I always felt that this quote from mcReady was the perfect synopsis for this film . John carpenter's The thing has been my all time personal horror film fo so many years now , it hurts my ears when i ear people say this is a good horror popcorn flick , it's really so much more then a popcorn flick..

First of all it's really a dark and creepy piece of work . A bunch of different type of guys are stuck in antartica we no way to comunicate or reach the rest of the word and since the alien can change and kinda take over anyone , they cant really trust anyone , it's work really well has a type of character study flick. Since it's an all male cast makes it even more dark since women do react differently and hetero sexuals like me dont get distracted by whats the most beautifull thing in the world , ive always thought that putting some t&a in a horror film was to distract the mind from all the blood,gore and horror and to kinda remind it that he his watching a movie. Theres nothing like that in this film to kinda bring you in a happy place , your left in the dread start to finish in my opinion . Also the score kinda sets the mood for the film it's quite dark doesnt take to much place most of the time it mixs itself with the sound of the wind and the storm.

Awesome 80's casting , Carpenter could never go wrong with Kurt Russel , the rest of the casting are all face i always love to see on film like Keith David , Tk carter and Thomas G waits , just to name a few. Am a huge fan of hand made make-up, fx , models , puppets and robots . And this films contains some of favorites ever , Rob Cottin kinda stole Carpenter show , the fx still are quite effective to this day and some are plain fucking nasty and look almost real . Also the fact that you never get to see the initial form of the alien , it's kinda always a mix of tons a shit he has duplicate in his existense , keeps a feeling of mystery tru the film and not everything is clearly explain makes it even more real and dark since we really have no fucking clue what is out there. I could go on and on about my love for this film , but since i watch it almost every winter ill leave some thoughts for next year.

I was kinda piss about the remake that is in the works but ive recently found out that it will be a prequel , it should focuse on the Norweigian team or something to do with nowergia and it's gonna be directed by a europeen director could be promissing
