"You can't beat this set!"

Starship Troopers 1 and 3!Starship Troopers 2. Sorry!
You can't beat this set. You get 3 great late night sci-fi flicks all packed into one awesome Blu-ray set. Though the first film is worth price of this set alone, getting the other 2 films is all bonus, especially considering the fact that Casper Van Dien comes to reprise his role in a full-on starring role in the 3rd film.

My favorite, as I'm sure many of you will agree, is the first film, originally directed and brought to the screen by our "Total Recall" hero, Paul Verhoeven. The film plays out as one of the funnest sci-fi adventure flicks you'll ever sit down to watch late night. As in all the Starship Troopers films you'll find tons of action, humor, and pure slimy alien bug gore to entice and keep you entertained.

Loads of special features give you even more reason to grab this thing and dive right in... especially with the special blu-ray only features you won't find on the original DVD release...

- Fednet Mode
- Recruitment Test
- Blu-Wizard
- BD-Live Capability
- Director and Cast Commentary
- Commentary with Paul Verhoeven and Ed Neumeier
- "Death from Above" Documentary
- "Know Your Foe" Bug Featurettes
- "The Spaceship from Starship Troopers" Featurette
- "FX Comparison" Featurettes
- Storyboard Comparisons
- "The Making of Starship Troopers" Featurette
- Deleted Scenes
- Screen Tests
- Scene Deconstruction

The Look
Awesome in 1080p. Though the original film doesn't look cleaned up, the movie still holds up a lot better than other that came out in 1997.

The Sound
Presented in 5.1 Dolby TrueHD encode, the audio sounds a bit duller than you'd normally find releases coming out on Blu-ray that were originally presented in theaters this year. A bit of a bummer, but only lends itself to the fact that that are tons of films in studio libraries that need, not only a hi-def release, but a total clean-up and restoration before it's release. Now that blu-ray is the hi-def format of choice, maybe we'll see this more and more from the studios.

The Packaging
A great looking 3 disc box featuring some new artwork with encapsulates the vibe of all three films on the cover. Inside lay 3 the 3 individual discs you can also buy separately in stores.

An impressive blu-ray collection definitely worthy of any action/sci-fi junkies' collection. You really can't miss with these late night classics!
