The Bucket List: A very interesting plot: Corporate billionaire Edward Cole and working class mechanic Carter Chambers have nothing in common except for their terminal illnesses. While sharing a hospital room together, they decide to leave it and do all the things they have ever wanted to do before they die according to their bucket list. In the process, both of them heal each other, become unlikely friends, and ultimately find the joy in life. And so we come to the film itself and at the get go, the catchy phrases and quotes were undeniably much of the film. I was really impressed with this it and yes it was endlessly entertaining and inventive and sometimes quite sad but overall a good movie with a witty and thoughtful script and it’s not what was done that reached out to me through out the film but more what was said… The dialogue more than anything carried the whole film in this case. I know I would succumb to all the things done on the Bucket List if I knew I was going to kick the bucket… Anyway so why not really go out with a Boom??? !!!. My favorite quotes of the movie were: In order:-a). “You measure yourself by the people who measure themselves by you”. And I definitely would live by this quote. It’s a good one as we all do things by emulating those we admire.
B). “I run hospitals, not health spas. Two beds to a room, no exceptions.” Never really had it put that way but that was what was catchy about it!
C). “The sequel was like that. She never backed me up on anything”… It was so hilarious how Edward Cole (Jack Nicholson) kept on referring to his second, third and so on wives (Mrs Coles’) as sequels and you wonder why they hated him so much ha ha ha…
D). “Edward Cole: Here's something to remember when you're older Thomas - never pass up a bathroom, never waste a hard-on, and never trust a fart.
Thomas(Sean P. Hayes): I'll remember that when I start "decrepitating" sir.”! Although this one would find favor mostly with the male audience, I still thought it was funny. Then came the scene where Edward goes in for surgery still so pissed off at his own hospital board that he manages to cheat death despite the cancer having spread out through his body. And who could forget when it got to Carter Chamber (Morgan Freeman) AKA Ray’s turn to go in for surgery and right before it, he tells Edward about how the real high end coffee he so much adores is really brewed details and all…part of wild cats crap yeah that crap… and how the cats beat him to it! Ooh… that was classic!!! I laughed till I cried, yes I managed to at least do that one thing on the Bucket List. But I didn’t expect any less from Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman; these two are among my top most favorite actors and for a good reason too, they’re real captivating as actors and director Rob Reiner definitely got me with this one. So my fellow movie mates…I really recommend this film to all of you, it was pure adultrated fun. You will love it I know~:)
