"Your wedding will be huge....just like your ass at Prom!"
I made a deal with my good friend Vampire2000. I'd see Bride Wars if he saw Crank. We both are suppose to review them, too. I normally wouldn't have reviewed this, so don't expect this to be my best review.
This was sort of...about half what I expected it to be. I thought there would be more of the "Bride Wars" going on that there actually was, and I also thought the "Wars" would be a little funnier. They showed pretty much all the funny parts in the trailer, and honestly...that's not saying much. I found the film more entertaining than actually funny. But what really disappointed me was the lack of "Bride Wars". It wasn't until there was about 40 minutes left of the film that they started fighting.
The story is pretty original. It's not every day that you hear about a whole movie that's just about 2 brides competing against each other. I didn't know what the story was. I knew the obvious, but I didn't know why they were fighting. I assumed that they just randomly were trying to mess up the other one's wedding. Which was pretty much it, but not quite...
I actually rather enjoyed Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway, and their funny dialogue. They worked quite well together, and I can't really picture too many other actresses in their roles. Plus they both are very pretty...although Kate Hudson didn't look her best. And even though they have good acting/chemistry, the side actors I found very forgettable. The 2 husbands and the rest of the male cast all looked the same, and I couldn't tell who was who, which made it tough to follow the story. Cloverfield suffered from the same problem of all the actors looking the same.
So I guess this movie was ok. Nothing memorable or special in any way, but it was entertaining and had a few funny moments.
