" I thought maybe your club foot was gaining on you! "

The Assassniation of Jesse James is a western novel written by Ron Hansen. And is considered to be excellent. I, myself have never had the chance to read the novel. Someday, I will. Numerous amounts of films have been made about Jesse James, such range to the life of the outlaw, and other's follow his assassination. I have not seen all of these films (25 I recall) but The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford in my opinion is the most effective of all. Starring Brad Pitt, Casey Affleck, Sam Rockwell, Sam Shepard, and Mary-Louise Parker, this western drama film is a true masterpiece. Having different settings, such as The Introduction, Blue Cut Train Robbery, and The Shootout Dinner Scene, my review will have you reading for hours so I am going to tell the main story. The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford is about Robert Ford an insecure young man who idolizes Jesse James, and doesnt feel respected by his surroundings. When the young man meets Jesse James he is suprised because this is not the outlaw that Ford suspected him to be. Jesse James is ferocious and extremely violent with his gang, but otherwise, with his family he is relaxed and protective. He refuses to let his children know about his life of crime. His paranoia of being chased by the law, for over a decade has driven James to the brink of insanity; and has become difficult for him to trust the ones closest to him. Afraid that they could possibly turn against him. With this fear he deseries to live a quiter life and even considers suicide, but he and everyone else knows there is almost always no easy way out. Casey Affleck is extradionary as Robert Ford. He is amazing and gives his best performance of his young career. Brad Pitt lights up the screen and is outstanding as Outlaw Jesse James. He also gives one of his best performances. At a length of 160 minutes this film had my attention the whole two hours and fourty minutes. It is a spectacular film with amazing performances all around, beautiful cineamtography, and a historically accurate story. The directing of Andrew Dominik equals the measure of greatness, and is very impressive. The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford is what should be considered years from now a classic western. And in my opinion is one of the best Ive seen. Suprsingly at the 80th Academy Awards this film only recieved two nomiantions: Best Supporting Actor: Casey Affleck, and Best Cinematorgraphy; but came away empty handed. This film deserves the praise that it gets and should be recognized as a masterpiece.

Nice review, this was a long movie, but it was expertly handled--especially the cinematography. That and I always love to hear music by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis (who I believe also helped with the score).

Have you seen "Chopper"? It's also by Andrew Dominik. It is just as good as this.

Good review.
