"The First Chapter Of The WHOLE "Star Wars" Saga Begins."
"Star Wars: EPISODE I-The Phantom Menace," the first chapter of the prequel trilogy and the first chapter of the WHOLE saga, finally becomes a theater movie and it became a big success at the box office in 1999! Many people have waited 16 years for this movie to come since Episode VI was out in 1983, and some people did or did not like this movie. Let's get down to my review:
STORY: A really impressive storyline. It's about how young Anakin Skywalker becomes a Jedi while on his way to the Dark Side, and it shows how he meets Obi-Wan Kenobi for the first time before he becomes his future Jedi Master. A nice story, this was.
ACTING: The acting was superb. Ewan McGregor was perfect to play Obi-Wan Kenobi. Liam Neeson was great as Obi-Wan's master Qui-Gon Jinn. Jake Lloyd was suitable to play Anakin as a young kid, and this movie appears to be his first movie. I wonder what he looks like today now that he's around 20, and he was 10 back then in 1999. Samuel L. Jackson is also in this (As most of you probably know that!). The puppeteer and actor Frank Oz is still Yoda, who still looks like a puppet in this, and it's just like the way he was back in the original trilogy too. And last...Ray Park's portrayal as Darth Maul with the double-sided red lightsaber and the cool make-up on his face was awesome! A pretty cool cast, this movie has.
DIRECTING: George Lucas, whom many people are hating for what he did to the "Star Wars" prequel trilogy, directs this movie. I actually think he, in my opinion, did a really good job directing these movies. What he wanted to do was to complete the WHOLE "Star Wars" saga by creating the prequel trilogy and match it with the original trilogy, so I liked that.
VISUALS: The visuals were great, especially if this movie was from 1999! I really enjoyed the space graphics and colorful lightsaber duels a lot, even Darth Maul's make-up looked graphic too!
OVERALL: A really good "Star Wars" episode that is pretty enjoyable to watch despite the mixed reviews on this. The positive reviews liked everything it had in it, but the negative reviews didn't like the script and acting dialogue. I really don't care about scripts or dialogues in ANY movies actually, to tell the truth. Other than that, this movie is really worth watching if you're a big "Star Wars" fan like me.

Darth Maul needed more to do considering how heavily the marketing campaign centered on him.
I didn't mind Jar Jar as much as everyone else did, but I still didn't think he was funny at all, just tolerable at best.
I agree with your opinion on this one, and am debating between a 4-4.5 rating on this one whenever I get around to writing it...for I dread all 6 reviews will be really long ones. lolz!
