"Brilliant!! But a rip off of the movie we REALLY wanted!!!"

This is not a review, but more my thoughts on the movie. I did not want to but this on a thread to get lost amongst comments about the Dark Knight and Harry Potter. Nor did i want to leave such a long comment.

Having had a couple of days to think more about the movie, i can't help but feel we will never see the Unicron story in a movie. If you think about ROTF, it was basically a remake of "Transformers: The Movie". I shall explain....

1:Instead of having Unicron as the bad guy, we have the Fallen.

2:The ressurrection of Megatron. But we don't get Galatron, we just get a sort of ungraded Megatron.

3:The death of Optimus Prime. But instead of the matrix being passed on to Hot Rod, we get Prime back.

They are the 3 main things in the original movie. Now they are gone. Bay had the chance to really go for it and move on with the story. But now i don't know where he could go. Yeah Megatron is still alive, but for fuck sake, he should have been killed and the ending should have left a major opening for another movie. But instead it ends just like the first, Prime talking to space. As far as i can see this will be the last movie. No point talking about the Dinobots as they would stupid in a movie. ROTF basically killed any hope of another movie. And i don't like the idea of making up a bad guy as the because then the movie doesn't mean as much to fans. As much as i like the seqeul, all it did was rip of a movie that already exsisted. Cartoon or not.

It was kick ass. But it had so many flaws. For you average movie go'er it's awesome. But as a life long fan it's very dissappointing. We don't get to see anything from Ironhide and Ratchet, and Bumblebee got fuck all proper screen time. He was the main star in the 1st movie. Yes Prime was bad ass, and that was fucker A!! That was my only problem with the 1st movie. I'm just so pissed that the greatest Tranformers story has been butchered to shit, and that we will never see the Unicron story.

I honestly think this will be the last Transformers movie.

It IS kind of a ripoff... I noticed that too, but you have to admit... it was kickass action haha.

I hated the unnecessary scenes that were simply used for comic relief. The whole mom and dad at the college (unnecessary), the Alice character (unnecessary), Leo Spitz (unnecessary), and though I didn't think they were as bad and unfunny as many say, Mudflaps and Skids were also (unnecessary). And finally, the final battle scenes could have been cut by about 10 to 12 minutes.

The film was a bit too long... but still... I enjoyed it.

Lol yeah that part in the movie was really stupid and it didn't make any since. Well thank you for helping me try to understand this movie a little better. I just loved the first one and so excited to see this one, and then when I left the theatre feeling like there were so many holes that weren't filled in this movie, I just had to get some answers. Overall the movie was good, and the special effects were awesome, its just there were alot of things that Michael Bay could of done. Like explaining the new autobot characters and let us kind of get to know them, and get some focus on the other autobots from the first movie. And he should have completely taken out the twins they had no purpose. I'll just have to watch it again to get a more better understanding. Thank you for helping.

You got it. And no, no female morphing decepticon exsisted in the cartoons, that was bullshit. Just a stupid hollywood add on that wasn't needed.

Thanks for responding. So basically what you're saying or what I think you're saying is that in the movie they didn't really say when the cube got lost and came to Earth. All we know is that Sam's great great grandfather found it a 100 years ago. So I guess Transformers 2 could have added that part bcuz they didn't really say when the decepticons first entered Earth. Ok I think maybe Im starting to understand. I just have one more question and Im going to leave you alone lol. So do you remember when that girl at Sam's college who turned into a robot? I mean could the Decepticons in the cartoon change into human form like that? I don't really know because as you probably can tell, I didn't watch the cartoon. That part just also kind of concerned me as well.

Well djcmoviefan,...

In the 1st movie when we here all about the cube they don't explain about the original Transformers, which they sorta did in Revenge. in actual fact, in the cartoons there is no such thing as the cube. That was created for the movie. So yes they could do and say whatever they wanted about the origin of the cube because it's not actually attached to the Transformers history.
But the matrix, which is the story they used in Revenge, IS part of the history!
In Transformers Sam's great grandaddy found Megatron like 100 years ago. So all we really know is that. What Optimus actually says at the beginning on the 1st movie is this :"Before time began, there was the cube. We know not where it comes from, only that it holds the power to create worlds and fill them with life. That is how are race was born. For a time we lived in harmony, but like all great power. Some wanted it for good, others for evil. And so began the war, a war that ravaged our planet untill it was consumed by death. And the cube was lost to the far reaches of space. We scatered across the galaxy hoping to find it and rebuild our home. Searching every star, every world. And just when hope seemed lost, message of a new discovery drew us to an unknown planet called earth."
It doesn't say that they where here at the beginning of time. Just that the cube was here.

Hope you understand that.

Hi. I just have a question that has been really bothering me about Transformers 2. If you have an answer I would really appreciate it or if anyone can answer it that would be nice. Sorry it's so long but I've just created me an account and I don't know where else to put this. Okay so in the first movie it said before time began there was the cube. And it can create worlds and life and thats how the Transformers race was created. And then the Decepticons wanted to use it for evil, so then there was this big war in their world between good and evil and their world was destroyed and the cube got lost in space. So the Decepticons and the autobots were both looking for the cube to create another world but the cube happens to land on earth. So that's why the Decepticons ended up in Earth was because the cube landed on Earth by an accident and they were trying to get the cube back. Am I right? But in Transformers 2, if Im not mistaking, it said that the Decepticons have been on Earth since the beginning of time to try to take over the Earth I guess, and they build this machine to destroy the sun. So what I'm trying to get across is that in part 1 it said that the reason why they landed on earth was because of the cube but in part 2 it said that they have been on earth for thousands of years trying to take over the world. Isn't that 2 different stories?
