"A love like never before. A movie you'll enjoy if you like drama and make sure you go see it without your girlfriend cause you will get into the story and wont need to make up for it every 5 seconds."
Masterpieces always come to us in many ways. you can watch the trailer and say, holy shit this is going to be amazing. you can make up your mind because of only the poster. and you can hear about other people talking about the movie being good and really care about it so you go see it. but many times you have something telling you, this is good. a sign! probably that was the case in many movies I've seen, all the other movies really don't matter for me. Or if I seem to pic a random movie usually, it ends up being a disaster and I hated it.
With this movie I really didn't have any idea what was the movie about I thought it was a false thing to do. watch it. but then I regretted even thinking about that. this was a masterpiece. it had it's originalty sticking with the classic momments stuck together to form a great line of story, acting, and directing at the same time. I was amazed and satisfied. notice up there I wasn't talking that I regretted the fact that I got into this movie, I regretted the fact of thinking that the movie was bad!
Only one thing made me look at the movie in a nice way before I actually saw it. The fact that will smith was in it. I was really down knowing the poster and the trailer sucked in my eyes. I was mostly 90% sure i would regret me paying 10 bucks to watch it. I was just bored, and sometimes, like this time of course, being bored got me some nice treat. I was really surprised by how good this movie was. I didn't expect anything good from it except seeing the amazing work of an actor that got off the page for me. will smith had a great performance, now to not say the best performance in his life, he was acting the way a person would act in real life if he was in the situation this movie puts him in. anyways the talk about Will's great performance and everything else come down there so keep reading.
If I wanna start about this movie I can easily start talking it from the start but you really wont know what I am talking about because the movie starts after something had happened to will smith's character. of course I don't want to say that either cause i want you to see it through the movie. that would be rude to say things out loud when you know things would be spoiled if you talk about it. anyways, let me just tell you that the movie starts by will smith being Ben Thomas who is an IRS agent. Of course he has an amazing house and gets really good somehow. the movie really starts with the seen the trailer starts with:" god created the earth in 7 days and I spoiled my life in 7 seconds." of course that is really some nice thing. I like when movies start the way the trailer does, it feels like you are watching movie you really know something about, unlike many movies where the trailer starts somewhere and you get to the theater, the movie starts, and you think you are watching a whole other movie. after that, for a reason unknown, I felt awkward and sad at that moment, Will (representing Ben of course) starts screaming at a blind man on the phone. I felt awkward cause I didn't really know what was going on, and too sad for the situation. Will was obviously making fun of the blind man for a reason unknown (of course you get to know it when you go and watch the movie here, except if you want me to spoil it for you.) I felt sad and really amazed by will's preformance. for a reason unknown I felt myself looking at one of those reality TV momments when the fight starts between tow teens or something. Anyways as the story kept on going I watched intrested in what's going on with this amazing movie that just seemed to keep getting better to the point where I wanted to start screaming this "WOWWW" when you see something really good. I felt exactly the way I felt when I first watched "I Am Legend" (Which is in my top 20 movies of all time) so that is deffinitely something good ( not that they have anything in common cause they don't). anyways as I said in the start after that there is one scene that you would be more dramatic than you thought. Of course, the story was mainly afterwards the story of the actual movie which was mostly BEN Thomas being the good guy and helping many people that he doesn't know. somehow he became a saint or something (lol). anyways, while helping people he meets this girl named emily ( and what you are thinking about right now is totally true) yes they do fall in love with each other, yet originality of the movie comes through the details which would spoil the movie for you. I really don't want to tell you much about what happens, but I thought I'll give as much info about the story as the synopsis did (Or close enough).
The story was really cool and kept on going. I wantched and watched and never said when could this end, I actually wished it never ended. It was really good. I felt myself reacting with the movie with every second of it. I was amazed by it for sure. more than that, I really liked the way things went on with the acting part. Will did a really great job just like in many other movies he does make. Didn't really get over the performance he gave us in "I Am LEGEND" which is my greatest Will Smith Movie Ever, But was better than the one in pursuit of happiness. It was overflowing the whole movie, making the ambiance in the room. he was not the lead actor for nothing. I loved many moments in the movie done by him and as I actually checked my memory of the movie I really don't think anyone else would have gotten to do this role better. Congratulations Will smith YOU"VE DONE IT AGAIN. I'll tell you I wont call him one of the best actors for nothing.
Also the girl portraying Emily had her own ambiance too. Of course not like the one of Will smith but you know. her name was Rosario Dwenson ( PLS don't ask who is she cause I've never seen any movies by her from before) she was hot, really hot. I thought I liked her best in the dinner scene you'll get to see that in the end of the movie or close enough to the end, like 30 min before or something. anyways great performance.
Well nothing else to really talk about exept for the fact that the effects were not supposed to be anything really. you know the only thing I've noticed was the music effects which were mostly like any other dramatic musical effects. Piano and stuff, the original.
Well I guess that's it I wish you enjoyed the movie if you've seen it if not well you should I'll leave my point at that. great job to all the actors and waiting for more from WILL SMITH and COLOMBIA PICTURES.

This comment will seem kinda random, since there is a fight, but I'll post it anyway, and stay out of it. lol Nice work.
it's just that that's the way i rate movies.
I don't give movies that get lots of attention by moviegoers 5 stars, I give movies that get lots of attention by me 5 stars (ex. GRIDHOUSE:didn't get lots of attention, barely made the 40 mill bucks in the box office.)
I do call movies masterpieces even if I don't give them 5 stars because when it gets to a 5 stars rating, I only give it to movies that gets my attention alot more than you think. you might think this is weird but that is the way i rate movies. + I said why it is a masterpiece in the review and I gave it comparisons to other Will smith movies that caught my attention which makes it more clear about how i rate movies.
this one is a real great work by a great actor that is what I call a masterpiece. for the 4 stars yes I was really thinking of giving it 4.5 stars but came back upon it because I was just about to put it in my list of best movies of 2008 which you can also check out. but I thought I'll see this first.
yeah I am picky about the movie rating alot more than you think. I don't like to give a movie a rating it doesn't deserve.
and in my reviews masterpieces don't catch a 5 stars (phenomenon do) and to get a 5 stars it has to jump off the page and be really great work, like SIN CITY, GRINDHOUSE, THE DARK KNIGHT, PIRATES 2 and 3, HARRY POTTER 5. and other I really admire as movies.
I do think this movie looks good, though, and I'm a big Smith fan, but...don't say it's a masterpiece when not even one of the aspects is a 5.
