""Rec" is another exsample of how a horror SHOULD be made!"

After seeing a trailer for the american version of "Rec" (Quaranteen) i thought it best if i check out the original first. AND BOY!! was i pleased!
Lets start of with the premise: A young female reporter is doing a documentary on a fire department. going through the motions of interviews and looking around the building the reporter is slowly but surely getting bored of the lack of action.
Then comes a call that takes them to a an apartmnet building, the residents having phoned after hearing sounds of distress. what should be a routine check quickly turns out to be alot more terrifying than any burning building these men have faced before.
Yes, the resident of the apartment has been infected with something that has either given her the worst case of the rag..EVER! or she now is a flesh eating monster/zombie. both you'll agree, truely fucking scary!
*SPOILER ALERT*
The firemen now joined with police officers attemp to bring the woman out, when the bitch lets out a scream that will make you shit yourself! at this stage of the film (approx 20 mins in) i was finally getting what i wanted from the movie. then everything happens fast. the whole building is "Quaranteened" (get it?) no one gets out or in. when the cop's get worried about what the hell is going on this makes the people living inside the building panic. and before you can figure out what they can do we have our first death, an almighty 4 story fall to cold hard tiles in ther middle of the hall infront of everybody. (the guys doing the F/X deserve a big mention here cause that one seen alone could've made this movie great) from there on, it was all cat and mouse with some very creepy scenes of a young girl turned monster/zombie that will leave you feeling cold.
With all the hype and the almost imediate remake, showed this movie was more than what we're used to. jumping on the bandwagon of "Blair witch" and "Cloverfield" with everything filmed through a hand held camcorder. this offers up alot more than the movies i just mentioned.
For a start, this movie gives you "fear", i'm not talking about boogie man stuff, but actual hair on the back of your neck standing type of shit! it also gives us very good acting, something i thought let the other movies of this kind down.
I know people will be truely fed up of the zombie genre soon what with all the remakes (some good, most fucking horrible), but please if you want a movie to give your love of the zombies a jump-start, this is it!
Why wait for the dampened down american version when you have the original in all it's freaky glory? .....
