"Daniel Craig is the best Bond yet!"
Well, this was the first Bond film I saw in theaters, and I would have to say that I am glad I saw this one, because out of all 22 (as of now at least) Bond films, I think that this one is my favorite. Now to give a definite answer, I would have to view all 22 of them again, but I am pretty sure that this one would be my favorite. I think Daniel Craig is possibly the Best Bond out of them all, and this one certainly had my attention throughout the entire thing, as where some of the first ones with Sean Connery, they lost me in a few places, due to the pace of the film. Don't get me wrong, I love and own all of the Bond films (as of now Quantum of Solace hasn't hit DVD yet, and is the most recent installment), but I would have to say that this is the best.
Even though I hardly know how to play poker, the directing was good enough for me to know what was going on. I like that. I could tell by the look on the actors' faces, and the background music. So that was a big deal there. Plus, unlike Quantum of Solace, this one keeps true to the series, meaning it keeps the "Bond, James Bond" and the martini, and just the whole atmosphere is perfect.
The story is very confusing, and I will not tell you the whole thing for 2 reasons. 1- it would take a while to explain in its entirety, and 2- I wouldn't want to ruin too much of the best Bond movie. But it's basically about stopping a mysterious villain at winning a game of poker. Now why Bond doesn't want him to win, and all that, I will keep a mystery for you. hehehe
I personally feel that Daniel Craig is an awesome Bond, and maybe the best one. I think he has an equal amount of lovers and haters. He does fantastic as Bond, and I hope they keep him for a while. I heard that he was up for the next couple Bond films. So that's good. Plus Eva Green is the PERFECT Bond Girl. She is the second best, number 1 being Olga Kurylenko in Quantum of Solace. Anyway, even if this Bond Girl didn't have the looks, she'd still be great, just because Craig and her work so well together. But let me tell you she DOES have the looks, as well as the chemistry with Bond. The supporting cast does great as well. I think that the bad guy in this one, Le Chiffre, is one of the best, and most believable ones.
The director is Martin Campbell. He also directed Goldeneye. He does more than fantastic. Like I mentioned, even though I know next to nothing about poker, I still knew for the most part what was going on. Plus I like that he kept all of the classic Bond elements. He just does awesome.
The visuals are amazing as well. You got a very fancy hotel, and some great action sequences, that are possibly some of the best in a Bond film. Then the Bond Girl of course.
Overall, the best Bond film. A must-see. I can't see anyone not liking it. I guess maybe a few people thinking it's a tad boring, but I personally was on the edge of my seat!
