This was another great installment into the Jurassic Park series. Though this one was not based off of a Michael Crichton novel I enjoyed it as much as I did the originals, and that would make sense since Michael Crichton also helped write this movie!!!!!
I remember waiting impatiently until it was released on VHS, oh yes back then it was still VHS for me, because being that young I didn't get to the theater that often. I watched every special I could find trying to discern facts about it. When it finally came out I was so psyched and in love with it that I watched it three times that day!!!!!
First off, the dinosaurs were once again amazing!!!!! I liked how they brought in a new predatory dinosaur, the Spinosaurus, I did not however appreciate that it bested my good buddy the Tyrannosaurus Rex, but I was just glad that they put the Tyrannosaurus Rex in this one. I also liked the new look that was given to the Velocoraptors. I thought it kind of showed how they were evolving on the island. The Pterosaurs have always been some of my favorite dinosaurs, and I was super psyched to see that they had a big part in this movie, seeing how we were teased in the second movie by a short glimpse at the end of the movie. They looked awesome too of course!!!!!
I was extremely excited to see that Dr. Alan Grant was returning to this one. He was always my favorite character in the first one. Sam Neil is an excellent actor, and does good in all of his movies, and in this one he does superb, playing a man who was nearly traumatized by the first incident, and now is being forced back to the one place he swore he would never return to.
Laura Dern returned as well to play Ellie Sattler, and even though her part was small I was psyched to see her return as well!!!!! She plays a woman who was more traumatized than she lets on, and when Dr. Grant at the beginning begins to talk to her about the Velocoraptors, she wants nothing to do with them. She does great for such a small role.
William H. Macy and Tea Leoni, were hilarious as Paul and Amanda Kirby, the couple that tricks Alan Grant into taking them onto the island, thinking that he knows his way around. I was rolling when the skeleton fell on Mrs. Kirby, and she began to flip out!!!!!
I did, however miss Jeff Goldblum's character of Ian Malcolm, his smart ass jokes were always funny to hear, and would have made this movie even better, but it was still a good movie, even without Jeff Goldblum as Ian Malcolm.
This was another great installment into this epic series, and I hope there is more to come!!!!!
I would also say that this is another MUST HAVE DVD, and to watch it, like I've said before, if you haven't already!!!!!
