CACHE (2005)

"One of the Best Films I Have Ever Seen."

Cache (Hidden) is a French suspense/ psychlogical thriller directed by Michael Haneke, one of the best directors of today. And this review I am about to write is going to tell you why this is one of the best films I have ever seen. The opening scene is a shot of a townhouse on a street in Paris. Haneke then cuts to a couple sitting. The opening scene was a tape that the couple was watching. They have no idea whatsoever who recorded the tape or exactly why it was sent to them. This couple is Georges Laurant and Anne Laurant. Daniel Auteuil plays Georges and Julliete Bincohe plays Anne. The both give riveting performances. One of the tapes they recieve shows where Georges lived as a child. There is no comment through any of these tapes, it seems that if whoever is taping these videos wnats them to know they are being watched. This someone also knows where their son, Pierrot goes to school. This film gets right to the main part of the story and has no time to waste. It will get you hooked instantly. And will keep the viewer attached to the screen. Cache will have you asking questions, but you may not find all the answers. Hence the name of the film. These are movies I love.

But Cache has more to it than that. It has a meaning and a lesson, a lesson of guilt. Guilt, is what Cache is really about. And moral, or choices that you make. These choices you made could end up coming back to haunt you or could affect you later in life. The story of Cache is very complex and you will be asking What the fuck just happened?, when the film is over. But that is what I love. This is a disturbing and creepy film showing how comfortable lives could be disrtubted by the fact that someone is watching. It is very possible and realstic which makes it even more creepier. Like the very best of Hitchock, Cache will have you asking for more. Julliete Bincohe feels betrayed by her husband, and Daniel Auteiul cannot express his deepest feelings, not even to the woman he loves most. These two actors have passion in their performances and they show that passion which makes them two terrific actors. The directing is fantastic, the acting is superb, and the story yet complex is very intriguing. What Haneke does is stack up so many ideas for the viewer to pick through. He wants you to decide for yourself what happened. Haneke is a genius and this film is his masterpiece. And should be praised and cherised years from now.

Cache is a brilliant film that will have you gasped by its suspense. It is a truly a masterpiece and deserves to be viewed by everyone.
