"She's my sister."
In 2006, former "Seinfeld" ('89-'98) writer Larry Charles teamed up with comedian Sacha Baron Cohen in a collaboration on one of Sacha's most popular characters: Borat.
In Kazakhstan, journalist Borat Sagdiyev joins with producer Azamat Bagatov (Ken Davitian) on a trip to America to document the culture to benefit the glorious nation of Kazakhstan. Because Borat believes that Jewish people are responsible for the 9/11 attacks, he buys an ice cream truck to drive cross country on his journey to meet Pamela Anderson, whom he saw on Baywatch in his hotel room. Armed with a bear for protection, Borat & Azamat document random person's lives in the South, where they meet Luenell the hooker, some sexist college students, homophobic guys at a Rodeo, racist high end socialites, and even a religious gathering where demons are "exorcized" from the spirit. Of course, given Borat's sexist, homophobic, and anti-Semite views, everything that occurs is hilarious.
The visuals are real. All too real. The entire thing was shot documentary style, and at times you actually believed that the most lucrative events were the most believable. However, when Azamat jerks off to Borat's "Baywatch" magazines, an extremely graphic nude fight ensues, where only Borat has the pleasure of being censored out. But Azamat?? YUCK!!!
Given the style of the film, then there's not much more I can divulge without spoiling the jokes, so I'll just leave it at this: "BORAT" is a glorious pseudo-documentary which exposes some immoral southerners for their true stupidity, lucrative beliefs, and overall, exploits just how entertaining it is to mock them in all their perverse morals. So in the end, Sacha Baron Cohen set out to extort certain groups of people for our own pure, selfish, and totally merciless enjoyment. And he delivered on a massive scale!!! So if you've yet to see this #1 comedy of all time which'll leave you in stitches on the first viewing, then buy or rent it now since the FCC will definitely ban everything good about this film when it premieres on TV. And THAT should be enough to get you seeing this flick!
