""The rushed scenes followed by the hundreds of random characters and the one particular twist at the end of the movie made it personally to me not that great of a movie.""

"A great way to start off the blockbuster summer". Well when i watched this movie, that was exactly what i thought i would find. I came to watch this movie, only to find a full crowd of people and only seats in the front and this is my basic view of the movie (the review contains spoilers and so i would not like to give out any information regarding the movie, but in order to express its pros and cons i must. forgive me the inconvenience):

Let me start off by saying that i do not know almost anything of X-men comics except the heroes and their powers and when it was created, basically during the Civil Rights Movement. So to those who do know comic books and picked out the flaws of the movie basically because it was nothing like the comics, well i wouldnt know and frankly i do not care if its JUST like the comic books or not. Films and comic books are not the same thing, and over and over again comic books have different story lines and various plots. Comics made the characters famous and well known, its the basic idea and portrayal of the characters and the theme of the comic book that counts, not the plot line. Frankly it would be more interesting seeing a movie with a new storyline rather than one snatched from the comic book. Anyways the plot of this movie was its flaw. To be honest i am not a huge fan of the x-men movies because they would bore me and they did not have that much of an interesting plot. This movie did have an interesting plot with good characters and twists, but it could have been projected into something more incredible. The scenes were fast paced and it felt as though the movie was rushing a bit into another section of the movie that was more "important". It tried fitting in much characters and dialogue as possible with not that much time (107 minutes). This was actually admirable because they did pull off somewhat. Comparing this movie to the other X-men movies is something that is right to do, because they should be connected and have similarities, but then again this movie is a PREQUEL and it did not have all the similarities the other X-men movies had. Also there was somethings the movie forgot to include, and this will be mentioned over and over again in my review more into it.

The characters in the movie were interesting but sadly there was barely any film time for most of them. I know, this movie is all about Wolverine and his past.. but then why did they include so many characters and yet did nothing with them? Gambit and Deadpool were a disappointment because of how little screen time they had. Along with them, other characters were barely used and neglected. Still, i cant help but feel that the little screen time they had can build up to more movies being made and more open ideas for these characters to be expanded. Hugh Jackman played a great role of Logan/Wolverine as well as Liev Schreiber as Victor Creed. The appearance of Victor Creed in this movie to the beast look of Sabretooth in the other movie is not explained nor shown.

Wade Wilson/Deapool was played great by Ryan Reynolds despite not knowing the character of Deadpool very well. Reynolds made sarcastic jokes and humorous remarks which was enjoyable to see and not annoying. Wade has only a couple of scenes and then later something happens to his character that i was in complete shock and disbelief but you will later find out when you watch it.

William Stryker was played by Danny Huston. In the second film, Stryker was portrayed by Brian Cox and the appearance of the two actors are distinct but nevertheless he gave it his best and it was believable that they were both the same exact person. Meanwhile Taylor Kitsch as Remy LeBeau / Gambit was also good to see in the screen. He released some of the "tension" the movie had with all the seriousness and killing of the movie. Will.i.am, Kevin Durand, and other supporting cast did their best to play the other mutants and overall i cant complain.

The visuals of the movie besides Wolverine's claws looked realistic in some sense. Over course the whole movie cannot look all real, but for the most part it seemed great with a few minor scenes. The scene at the end required much of the visual effects and it didnt seem all too believable but it was a modest effort by the filmmakers. As for the costumes and makeup, i wished there were actual costumes in the movie and really interesting suits that Team X would all wear, but there wasnt any. What they actually wore were just normal clothes and it still looked fine and added a more realistic tone to normal everyday life.

The directing by Gavin Hood was rather decent. The scenes in which there were mountains and trees i have to admit were beautiful and really awesome to see, especially in a superhero movie. You usually do not get those kind of settings in a comic book movie. But anyhow the directing was well done, i really do not have any complains except for the movie being too fast paced and that some scenes should have been longer and not rushed. If anything, with all the characters, the movie should have been longer and an extended plot. Then again people who would have wanted to watch a movie would be bitching at how long it is, so i guess a sequel could happen if most people enjoyed this movie.

Now the reason why overall i gave this movie a 3 is really because it was nothing special. Sure it was action packed and climatic at some points and an entertaining movie, but was not worthy to get anything more than above average. The rushed scenes followed by the hundreds of random characters and the one particular twist at the end of the movie made it personally to me not that great of a movie. And you may ask, is it better than any of the other three X-Men movies? Well honestly i cannot compare this one to the other three because its the same idea and theme. This movie should have revolved around Wolverine more, and less on fan favorite mini scenes with Gambit and the gang. It would be best to wait for the movie in DVD, or go to the movies and watch it for yourself if you would like to make an educated opinion about it. the choice is yours. Hope you liked my review. i havent made one in a while and i admit, im rusty.
