AKIRA (1988)

"TETSUO!!!!!"

I'm back!!!Not that anyone really cares, but I feel like I lied to those who actually read these reviews. I said I was going to do a review a day but that failed miserably. So to bringing back the review a day plan I'm dedicating this review to the Cryptkeeper. Now onto the review, finally! This film is probably the greatest piece of work I've ever seen, literally. This was one of the first anime films I've ever seen and it completely blew me away. Those who aren't familiar with anime, it's Japanese animation with shows like Dragonball Z, Naruto(fucking hate this show by the way), and Gundam. Back to the point once again. I would say I'm a pretty big fan of anime though not like my cousin who is obsessed with it. But this film is the reason I enjoy it so much. Akira has some of the best animation you will ever see considering the time it was made. The story is something I enjoy greatly with the setting set in a post-apocalyptic Tokyo with the country being socially unrest and rebelling & protesting against the government. The acting I thought was good for the dubbed version. The English voices fit well over the dub. The directing is incredible and is done by none other than Katsuhiro Otomo, who also created the manga. Visuals were outstanding and some of the best I've seen to this day. The deaths and gore in the film are visually stylistic, which I enjoy a lot. All in all this is most likely the greatest animated film ever made, and I'm not just saying that. Even if you don't like anime I really do consider that you watch this flick because I promise you will not be disappointed. That is all I have to say for now. Enjoy the film.
