"Liked it, didn't love it."
Transformers opened in 2007 with high expectations which it in the end managed to satisfy audience's with it's over the top action and visual effects.
I will be honest and say I came out the movie house crying like a baby when I saw T1. When I heard of a sequel, I could only cry more with joy over that. The long wait, was it worth it?
Okay, to start there's about a hundred robots, more visual effects and a whole lot of explosions (what do you expect Michael bay's directing.) The film also has perhaps one of the best epic battles I've seen since ben-hur, which takes place in Egypt. But perhaps what made me love T2 more than most action films I've seen this year is because the way Michael Bay covers up the action with great high detailed graphics.
The sound is raw and crisp, in a scene where the main baddy is introduced, you can hear many different instruments come together to make this beautiful sound of evil. The dinobots get introduced in the film, this made me feel like a kid all over again.
The movie has a great story but personally speaking, I thought a bit much. Sure it had action that almost made your eyes bleed, but that's about it. The film just had too much going on, so many giant robots kicking the shit out of each other, the plot just becomes thinner and weaker. The conclusion to the film is so dull that the climax expected is weak and irrelevant.
T1 had a special something because it had humour combined with a decent story, not to mention kept the action well organised with dialog. Michael bay is not the best director in the world, the main reason being that he always wants to blow up stuff (I'm sure we all do) but he takes it too far. A great film does not need over the top action and explosions to make an audience love it, it's all about story and in-depth look at characters.
T2 lacks all of those things, if you were a fan of dinobots, check it out for satisfaction. Die hard transformers fans will not be disappointed, it will be like a candy store for them. Then as for people such as I who admire film so much and look at every detail, not just what you see, the movie will be very disappointing because it's just on the outside.
See it in IMAX to make the film experience worth while the wait.

I am more like people like you. Like what you said in the last sentence.
And good review man.
I comment on the OTT action like where Optimus jumps out the chopper with a parachute and refer to the climax battle as similiar to Venom in SM3.
Fell free to check out my review as well, its a brilliant all-rounded action film, with a small plot, but definately not worth an IMAX ticket, so glad i went to the IMAX primere, free of charge LOL
