"Could see it twice in the Theater"

Who could not like history? What a great way to learn and enjoy some of our country's history! Like the first National Treasure the writer's take us on a whirlwind treasure hunt revolving around the Gates family and one of the most interesting parts of United States history, the assasination of Abraham Lincoln.

But unlike the first one, we know a little bit more about the Gates family. And in this story we learn more about Ben Gates' (Nicholas Cage) mother. She is played by Helen Mirran who won an Oscar for The Queen and she is great opposite Jon Voight, Patrick Gates. However one character, Mitch Wilkinson, played by Ed Harris was not explored much in this film. He holds an important role in this film as the bad guy but somewhere in the movie his perspective changes. This point is not clear and what really drives this to happen. The writers could have put a little more into this character development.

Another great thing about this film is the visuals and the cinemtography. There are great shots of some of our countries greatest monuments. Like the first film the treasure is magnificent and eye opening.

I think the greatest thing about this film is it leaves it open for another one to be made. The combination of history and comedy, action and a little romance makes this movie an all around good movie. I could definetely see this movie again in a theater.
