The Cheetah Girls 2 (2006)

Okay, before we get to the part where the 22-year-old male film snob goes into great detail about how he thought Cheetah Girls 2 was absolutely terrible, please allow said film snob to first say this:

If you liked "The Cheetah Girls," and watch "That's So Raven" regularly, then you're probably going to enjoy Cheetah Girls 2. This film's sole intent is to charm teenage girls and Disney Club members, and by that measure, it works.

If you're not familiar with the Cheetah Girls, the basic jist is that they're the teenage version of the Spice Girls. They sing and dance and you guessed it, love cheetahs (or at least the print on their shoes that matches them).

In this "cheetah-licious" sequel, the girls - Galleria (Raven-Symon&#233), Chanel (Adrienne Bailon), Dorinda (Sabrina Bryan), and Aquanette (Kiely Williams) - head to Barcelona for the summer before their senior year in high school to compete in an amateur music contest. Once there, Galleria becomes upset that everyone would rather go shopping instead of rehearse.

Boy have I been there - man, you're in Barcelona for an amateur music contest (how the hell can you fly across the world for an 'amatuer' music contest?)and next thing you know all your friends are out shopping and playing minature golf while you're boxed up in the studio singing your heart out. It's such a timeless story, we can all relate.

I'd say unless you're 13 or have some sick fascination with Raven-Symone, avoid this DVD completey.

But that's just a 22-year-old guy talking, perhaps if this DVD was reviewed by it's proper demographic it would come out much different.

The "Cheetah-licious" edition of this DVD includes the extended version of the movie and a "sing-along version," which is just the extended version with karaoke subtitles over musical numbers.

A music video (3:19) for "Dance With Me" (performed by Drew Seeley and Belinda)

"Cheetah Tips: How To Be Cheetah-licious" (9:55) has the group offering up fashion advice, and then there's a tour of the wardrobe department.

There's of course the usual assortment of Disney trailers and previews.

If you're seriously thinking about purchasing Cheetah Girls 2, chances are you have no need for this review. Just remember that this film was made for young girls and nobody else. My final word: Skip it, unless you're the absolutely love the first Cheetah Girls cinematic adventure.
