"Rainn Wilson is funny but the rest of the movie is inconsistent."

I would like to think of this as a sequel to School of Rock just not as good. Some of the movie is funny especially the parts with Vesuvious. But the rest is inconsistent.

Rainn Wilson of The Office fame is funny but you can tell his part was written for Jack Black. His nephew played by Josh Gad is very funny and so is the rest of their band. Vesuvious[the band that ditched Rainn Wilson to go on to more fame] is hilarious but underused.

The story is predictable from start to finish. It is almost identical to the story of School of Rock. It is very sluggish in the middle when there are multiple scenes of Rainn Wilson whining that he will not play as an opener for Vesuvious.

So if you want a comedy maybe go for School of Rock or if your bored maybe The Rocker.
