"MEET RHONA MITRA.....AKA ''MRS. SNAKE PLISKIN''"

From the prologue this film is just an updated version of the 1980's ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK...the minor differences would be the background story of a virus that leads to the end of civilisation as we know it and the fact that the hero of the film is a HEROINE!!!

with the trademark eyepatch and the black,leather clad outfit we see the heroine race against time only to rebel slightly against the government and society she once lived in.

we see the film travel through post apocolyptic britain and travel to medieval britain.the idea was great and it's true sometimes the simplest ideas are the most effective.

i liked the film,however,there are some cringe-worthy scenes and performances from talented actors.also the selection of music that accompanies this film was varied.

Instead at times of showing a menacing society that live outside the law we see a crazy crowd of sexually frustrated people confused of gender rather than a society trying to survive and repopulate.

from the man who brought us THE DESCENT i was kind of disappointed in that this film had potential of being something rather than just a film paying homage to other apocolyptic films.

i did say i enjoyed as i did...to a point as there are some great one-liners and the idea was good it just lacked intensity.the action is good and on a whole it is worth a watch just to say you've seen it....but i'm sure by the end of 2008 this film will not still feature in the minds of many of it's viewers as 2008 is going to be a great year for some great films!!!!!
