40 DAYS AND 40 NIGHTS (2002)

"Not funny, and offensive."

Yet another movie that insults men by making them look like sex-addicted pigs. That's so not even true, overall. I mean, how often do you see a movie about women wanting sex? Never. And yet, I'd guess they'd want it just as much as men, because they get pleasure out of the action, as well. But no. Hollywood has to go after they guys. we aren't all pigs. I'm 15, and not gettin' any, and I'm perfectly content with waiting for someone I love. So what the hell is all this bullshit? I knew what the plot was going into this, but I guess I thought it'd be executed differently. It was somewhat bearable, but I really didn't like it at all.

The story is a guy can't have sex for 40 Days... The guy isn't a sex addict, but he likes it. Some dumb bitches try to temp him. But the end half way surprised me, but I didn't really care about the movie, so I didn't feel much of anything when the 'shocker ending' occurred.

The acting is ok. it's not a hard movie to act out, even I could. But Josh Hartnett seems to go a tad overboard in some scenes. All the female actresses are very pretty, and I'm sorry they had to witness a guy who acts like that. Pretty women shouldn't see guys and their stupidness. Girls are just to good for that shit. But anyway, I guess I'll give Hartnett a break, because I think this was one of his first movies.

Michael Lehman is the director. I didn't like him at all. he made some scenes go on so long, they were even more offensive than they were in the first place. Then the last 20 mins just happens with no time to register it. I was like "what...???" because it popped out of nowhere. Not much closure to the characters at all, but I didn't really care about them in the first place. I kinda was hoping a world-wide disaster or something would happen, actually.

So overall, bad movie. But it's semi-bearable if you're bored or just feel like seeing sick shit. Starts out kinda decent, but poops out it's energy VERY early.

You are right, Buff. But I think i was close in my review. it seems as though the young girls look for nice, young guys. as where, when they get older, they settle down. men dont seem to as well. lol

thanks, Buff, and Yentz... and Yentz... Ugly Truth is good. lol, and thanks for also agreeing that Hollywood is out to get us men!

Sorry guys... but its a fact. The majority of men DO think about sex alot. I dare you to find a man that will say NO to having sex with a pretty or avg looking woman. It will never happen. At least I'VE never seen it. Yet, I've seen women say NO to guys all the time. 95% of men over 19 go to clubs at night for one purspose... they hope to get laid that night. The percentage of women seeking that is alot lower. Some actually go out to simply have fun with their girlfriends. You believe that? How dare they! haha

Even a strong percentage of married men go looking for something on the side... even though they may have a hottie at home already. Its a sad fact. Crypt... you say you're 15 so you'll understand in 5 yrs what I'm talking about when you have some new college friends. Now... I'm not saying YOU will be in that 95%... you may stay in the 5%, but its a fact... men are sexual pigs. Most of us anyway. haha ;)

Nice review. I haven't seen it as it never got my interest... but I assume for a character who is used to having sex constantly WOULD have a hard time going over a month without sex. How funny that would be is still up for grabs though. I personally don't care to see this film. And now with your rating, I want to see it even less. Good job.

Yeah, I didn't care for this one at all. The only role I've ever cared Hartnett in is 30 Days of Night. Good review Crypt and I like that you tacked on the whole thing about how men are perceived in films such as this. Sadly it ain't ending anytime soon (just look at the new "Ugly Truth" movie... Or better yet--don't).
