SEVEN POUNDS (2008)

"Will Smith does it again!"

It is quite the funny story on how I came to see this movie. Actually that day I was going to see this one, but a showing for Valkyrie (another movie that as of now is in theaters) was a sooner showing, and since I also wanted to see that one, I saw that instead. But an hour into the film, I was finding it troublesome to stay awake, and hard for me to care about what was going on. Basically I was bored to death. So the people at the theater were nice enough to let me see the next showing of Seven Pounds for free! I'm glad I did, because this is one of the year's best, and POSSIBLY Smith's best. That's a tough one though, because The Pursuit of Happyness was also great.

I really like the story here. It's next to impossible to explain without spoilers, but here's the best I can do. It is pretty much about Will Smith helping someone who has a failing heart. You know, helping her through her final days, since there's a small chance of someone donating a heart in the time allowed. That's how it seems, but in the end, it all changes. Sorry, but I can't tell ya.

The acting is phenomenal! I mean I always knew Will Smith was an awesome actor, but this time he proves himself yet again! He can do just about everything. Drama (Pursuit of Happyness, Seven Pounds), action I Am Legend), and comedy TV's Fresh Prince of Bel-Air). He is one of the world's best, and we should see more of him. If you look at most other's actor's filmography, they are bigger than Smith's. But notice how most, if not all of Smith's films were a box office success. Obviously he picks his movies carefully. I think this film will do well, but I already know it won't be as much as some of his others, because it isn't getting as much talk as Hancock, or I Am Legend did. Also I can't forget to mention Rosario Dawson's perfect performance. She is the woman who needs the heart transplant. Her and Smith have PERFECT chemistry. I never thought one way or another about her, but she was awesome in this movie.

The director is Gabriele Muccino. I can't say I've heard of him... but he still does excellent. Every scene is filmed to perfection. I really like how he keeps you in suspense. Because at first the movie seems sort of pointless, like it's going nowhere. But it is... Also he makes you care about every character, even the smaller ones, who aren't in the whole film.

Overall, a incredible film. One that you should DEFINITLEY see. Definitely one of the year's best.

First, I haven't seen this movie yet but I heard the ending was sad, so I'm thinking about seeing "Seven Pounds" because Will Smith is really good in his movies! Second, I actually thought "Valkyrie" was a great war movie!

Good review. But I have one correction. The director was not Grant Nieporte. It was Gabriele Muccino. Also are you saying that you didn't like Valkyrie? Because I thought it was pretty good.
